I still remember walking out of the biggest screen in Chicago (McClurg Court) on opening night, wondering where they found live dinosaurs to make the first film.

And that’s the day I dropped the class and switched to Physics major. “Just memorize this” is not how my brain works.

A student to my left says “could it replace the double bonded …

Professor: “That’s ridiculous! The activation energy is off the charts!!”

Crickets …

The prof replies “what are you thinking?! Look at the electronegativity!! That would never happen!”

Another minute passes …

My classmates and I stared at the board, then at each other, then back to the board. Silence. A minute passes.

Finally someone tentatively raises their hand and says “maybe it will replace the carboxyl group…?”

It was 2nd semester honors organic chem. The professor drew two molecules on the chalkboard and asked us what we would expect the reaction to produce…

O-chem is why I became a physics major

Well, the Dow is well below 50,000 (points, not dollars), so she needs a different excuse.

I have the 18mm f2. It generally lives on my X-M5, as that combo fits in my pocket! Love that lens.

I don't have the XC 15-45mm, but see that it has the image stabilization that the 18mm lacks, and is significantly less expensive (and plastic).

So it probably depends what you're doing with it.

The From the Earth to the Moon episode "Spider" was always one of my favorites.

And although it was contracted as "LEM", didn't they drop the "Excursion" and settle simply on "LM" (still pronounced "lem")?
