Finally Prof draws a new molecule on the board, something completely out of the blue.
βTheres no way you could have known this, youβll just have to memorize this oneβ
And thatβs the day I dropped the class and switched to Physics major. βJust memorize thisβ is not how my brain works.
A student to my left says βcould it replace the double bonded β¦
Professor: βThatβs ridiculous! The activation energy is off the charts!!β
Crickets β¦
The prof replies βwhat are you thinking?! Look at the electronegativity!! That would never happen!β
Another minute passes β¦
My classmates and I stared at the board, then at each other, then back to the board. Silence. A minute passes.
Finally someone tentatively raises their hand and says βmaybe it will replace the carboxyl groupβ¦?β
It was 2nd semester honors organic chem. The professor drew two molecules on the chalkboard and asked us what we would expect the reaction to produceβ¦

I'd be crawling out of the room too.
Well, the Dow is well below 50,000 (points, not dollars), so she needs a different excuse.

Since it'll be cloudy for me, I may as well post some photos from previous lunar eclipses that I was fortunate to view (in no particular order).
These from November 2022
If I have the times right, there's a thin line of Canada that will have an ISS transit of the eclipsing moon tomorrow morning. Check transit-finder.com for predictions

Sometimes the official Fujifilm shop has that lens available refurbished for a good discount, although not at the moment.

I have the 18mm f2. It generally lives on my X-M5, as that combo fits in my pocket! Love that lens.
I don't have the XC 15-45mm, but see that it has the image stabilization that the 18mm lacks, and is significantly less expensive (and plastic).
So it probably depends what you're doing with it.
The From the Earth to the Moon episode "Spider" was always one of my favorites.
And although it was contracted as "LEM", didn't they drop the "Excursion" and settle simply on "LM" (still pronounced "lem")?
Nearly full moon with soft glow of clouds. Dark ridge of tree covered mountain barely defined in silhouette with moon nearly touching.
Closer view of moon dipping behind ridge of trees
Moon mostly obscured by trees
Moonset over the Blue Ridge Mountains
(Unfortunately likely to be cloudy tomorrow for the eclipse)
