That time I sat in a room with about five other people and listened to Raul Malo & Whitney Rose…

This was 2015 at Americanafest, and I think this was a session with Chuck Taylor at KHYI. Raul was playing a guitar he borrowed from Trisha Gene Brady.

The first time I saw Raul Malo was Americanafest in 2004.
he sat in for a song with BR549, & I was blown away.

Eventually got to interview him in 2016. He brought me on the bus, and we had a great conversation. Kind, engaging, funny... and one of the purest voices I've ever heard.

This sucks.

Russell Moore has the vocals on this… but it’s still fun.

*My son and I may seriously fight when Sinners and KPop Demon Hunters go head to head in the "Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media" category.

*My wife and daughter will likely get the last laugh when Wicked wins the Grammy for "Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media" category anyway.

*I would really like for Molly Tuttle or Larkin Poe to win the Americana Album Grammy.

*Sierra Hull with 4 nominations is pretty cool.

*Three nominees in the Country Duo/Group Performance category have lived in my hometown of Paintsville, Ky.

*No roots artists in the major categories this year.

Building the playlist for this week's show, which is focused on 2026 Grammy nominees, is the most time I've had to dig into the nominations since their release, & I have some thoughts.

I'll keep most of them to myself... but here come a few.

*I don't know how to handicap any of these categories.

I was also trying to watch Stranger Things, btw…

We’ve had Netflix for many, many years, and I never knew about the screen limit until my teenager just came running downstairs screaming at me to turn it off because she couldn’t watch Stranger Things.

The youngest was watching K-Pop Demon Hunters.

I guess we only get two screens at once?

Ran out of the good, self sealing, envelopes while sending thank you letters… had to use the lick it yourself envelopes for the last few letters.

I now have a paper cut on my tongue.
