There are a lot of things which can be sensed but not explained. Labeling them is one way Humans bring these aspects into regular discourse.

Labels can easily become beliefs and this is what we see here. That is my understanding.

I only suspect that it is beneficial for us in some way.

Nearly 80 percent of humans are religious, pray regularly and believe in some sort of soul and connection to the divine.

In some ways we are finite beings craving an infinite connection.

I used to have that opinion till I learnt personality theory & how people perceive the world very differently. Couple this with Self-organisation, it seems tht religion is not going away.

The thing is I might not need religion but I realised that others do. Superstition is a diff matter though.

It's just an intuitive wrapper on the underlying phenomenon?

I believe in complexity science and the phenomenon of emergence.

Reminds me of the Katha Upanishad from India - where the seeker called as Nachiketa is given a boon by Yama the God of death and Nachiketa poses this question to Yama - 'It is not well understood what happens when we die? Can you explain this to me?'

Something which lingers on and is connected.

In one ancient Indian book - a seeker asks Yama the God of death - 'It is not well understood what happens when we die? Do we really die or do we linger on?' I thought that was a very interesting way to put it.

I am aligned to complexity science and the phenomenon of emergence. Some things simply emerge out of the underlying phenomenon.

Do you believe in a Soul?

If yes - how does the soul matter to you?

If no - how are we all connected? Have you evr thought abt it?

Most religions espouse the soul principle - can the world be explained without the need of a soul?

I am just trying to rethink spirituality in the current century.

Arjuna - you speak sincerely, but your sorrow has no cause.

The wise grieve neither for the living nor for the dead.

-- Gita (2.11)

The above quote is what hooks people to reading the Gita.

So looking forward to this new fun activity and the torture of it!! 😜

Though I am not very sure why I do these things 🀦🀦

And then rinse and repeat for each video πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

It is a journey but I am now doubling down and committing to complete it.

I had done the same with writing a book - for nearly 10 years. And finally the book is with an Editor for a final evaluation.

Then I decided that a YouTube channel will make better sense.
This has led to a flurry of activity in learning how to youtube. πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

I have to get a good micπŸŽ™οΈ, get the right lights! Learn the camera settings, learn how to script, learn how to shoot, learn how to edit on DaVinci Resolve 🀦🀦

I then decided to short list Bhagvad Gita as the first book.

So first hurdle - I had read the Gita over ten years ago.

Therefore I had to read it a few times again πŸ˜…πŸ˜… - before I could even think of anchoring a group reading.

I just realised that it is extremely difficult to start something new πŸ˜…πŸ˜…. Especially with a full time job and a full time family and social life!

I have been trying to start the book wisdom club which I wrote about a few months ago.

The first rule of reading a wisdom book is simple, but brutal: Don’t read to confirm. Read to be changed.

16.06.2025 14:49 β€” πŸ‘ 26    πŸ” 3    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Most people open a wisdom book expecting answers. But the great ones β€” the Gita, the Tao Te Ching, the Dhammapada, the Meditations β€” don't give you conclusions. They give you contradictions. They poke at your certainty.

16.06.2025 14:48 β€” πŸ‘ 26    πŸ” 3    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

How we read a wisdom book often matters more than what we read. A single sentence from the Gita, the Tao Te Ching, or Marcus Aurelius can either strike like lightning or pass by like fog-depending not just on the reader’s knowledge, but on their state of mind, life experiences, and even personality.
