i wish there was more demand for my work but tbh can't control what other people want or like. only can control what i can focus on and create. artist trying to be pro is a difficult journey but can't quit just yet.

thanks for the heads up! i was a bit sick and was feeling down about this all day. hopefully better stuff will come and i really want to dive into learning cover design too.

my usual tat is 3-6 weeks which they agreed to and didn't have a strict deadline. i was running a little behind schedule due to some personal stuff so ask them to update the deadline which they happily agreed to but when i sent in sketch update the other day they told me about canceling the rest.

artists doing commissions how do you get fast at this? literally getting cancellations because not fast enough and no rush work policy

though it did made me quite sad overall. that was the only request i got this year and now cancellation on top of it. and i was going to learn book design too for the project.

someone canceled a commission with me because it takes me too long to complete (they wanted 2 characters w/complex outfit in color and one book cover but now just doing the first character only as it was already paid and started sketch.) in a way it's good because i never made a book cover before -

is there any illustrators working with agencies on here? i'd like to hear your experiences 😅

i'm thinking if being with an agency will be a good idea or not as i'm not very good at marketing my work and finding work for myself currently.

99 times out of a hundred if you are a commission artist and you're wondering "am i overcharging" the answer is no. you're probably still undercharging.

I regularly see people wondering how it's possible that there are so many musicians and writers and film makers and artists from a tiny nation like Iceland.

And the answer is really simple: State funding for art education and artists. I literally get a salary from the government to write books.
