Spurs' 4,000th NBA game as special to John Drossos as first one in ABA
The son of former team owner Angelo Drossos attended the Spurs' 4,000th NBA game decades after serving as a ball boy in the team's first ABA outing in 1973.
Fifty-three years after he worked as a ball boy at the #Spurs’ 1st game in San Antonio as an ABA franchise, John Drossos was in attendance at NBA Game No. 4,000 for the team last week in Dallas.
On the son of the late team patriarch’s “amazing” journey:

Warnock on the arrest of Don Lemon: It’s chilling, and I think that is the intent. They intend to send chills down the backs of journalists. The authoritarian march is happening in real time, and it’s way past the time to wake up.

I was 15 years old. Bought the ticket because my older brother was a John Mayall fan. Also liked the hit song, 'White Bird,' by It's a Beautiful Day. Had not heard much about the Dead, but they blew me away with a long set. Somehow, I got close to the stage at the end. 'Love Light' was epic.

Trying to jog my memory in the wake of reading the Bob Weir obits today, I found a Grateful Dead archive that mentions the band headlining in San Antonio on Feb. 21, 1970, with John Mayall, It's a Beautiful Day and Quicksilver Messenger Service. Anyone besides me remember that incredible show?

News Team,
Thank you for the notes and texts. I apologize for not reaching out earlier.
I learned on Saturday that Bari Weiss spiked our story, INSIDE CECOT, which was supposed to air tonight. We (Ori and I) asked for a call to discuss her decision. She did not afford us that courtesy/opportunity.
Our story was screened five times and cleared by both CBS attorneys and Standards and Practices. It is factually correct. In my view, pulling it now-after every rigorous internal check has been met is not an editorial decision, it is a political one.
We requested responses to questions and/or interviews with DHS, the White House, and the State Department. Government silence is a statement, not a VETO. Their refusal to be interviewed is a tactical maneuver designed
to kill the story.
If the administration's refusal to participate becomes a valid reason to spike a story, we
have effectively handed them a "kill switch" for any reporting they find inconvenient.
If the standard for airing a story becomes
"the government must agree to be
interviewed," then the government effectively gains control over the 60 Minutes broadcast.
We go from an investigative powerhouse to a stenographer for the state.
These men risked their lives to speak with us.
We have a moral and professional obligation to the sources who entrusted us with their
stories. Abandoning them now is a betrayal of the most basic tenet of journalism: giving voice to the voiceless.
CBS spiked the Jeffrey Wigand interview due to legal concerns, nearly destroying the credibility of this broadcast. It took years to recover from that "low point." By pulling this story to shield an administration, we are repeating that history, but for political optics rather than legal ones.
We have been promoting this story on social media for days. Our viewers are expecting it.
When it fails to air without a credible
explanation, the public will correctly identify this as corporate censorship. We are trading 50 years of "Gold Standard" reputation for a single week of political quiet.
I care too much about this broadcast to watch
it be dismantled without a fight.

Spurs sign Warren graduate Stanley Umude to two-way deal
To make room for the defensive-minded 6-foot-6 wing, the club waived two-way player Kyle Mangas.
The Spurs churned the bottom of their roster Sunday, signing San Antonio Warren alumnus Stanley Umude to a two-way deal.
Mitch Johnson likes the wing’s 6-foot-6 size and defensive mindset.
“He was great in camp,” the coach said.

Pete Rose, other deceased players removed from MLB’s permanently ineligible list
The decision, announced by commissioner Rob Manfred Tuesday, makes the sport’s all-time hit king eligible for election to the Hall of Fame.
From @theathletic.bsky.social: Pete Rose was reinstated by Major League Baseball after a lifetime ban for gambling on his team, making him eligible for the Hall of Fame. It's an extraordinary twist to a saga that has gone on for more than three decades.

Meanwhile, a year ago the Spurs had zero playmaking guards and now they might have three elite ones?
Not sure Harper is automatically the pick, but putting him with Fox and Castle around Wemby? That might work ok.
