Er ontstaat wel een probleem als een deel van de maatschappij of de politiek deze deugden wel in de praktijk wil brengen en een ander deel niet. Je kunt wel voor vrede zijn, maar als de ander bewust uit is op oorlog, heb je toch een probleem.

Maar als die andere pijpleiding het ook niet meer doet…..

Weer een prikkelende column die goed aangeeft hoever politieke polarisatie kan gaan. Vijanddenken en dehumanisering liggen dan al snel op de loer. Gelukkig zijn er nog plaatsen waar je elkaar open kunt ontmoeten, bijvoorbeeld de voetbalkantine. Totdat ook daar het wij-zij denken toeslaat.

Mooi stuk. Was in het voorjaar nog in Budva en we hebben in een klein Haags theater ook een film gezien van Taja ( die jij ook hebt geïnterviewd voor dit artikel).

You could also read some recent Karaganov stuff on Global Majority. We had an excellent discussion on this quite recently at the ICCEES conference in London. Especially Maxime Danielou from Paris-Nanterre had a great presentation on this matter and Karaganov’s influence.

You could also look into the narrative of Russia’s “leadership” of the “ Global Majority “, one of the latest tropes in an increasingly ideologically framed story.

Congratulations. Also enjoyed your talk at ICCEES. Pity there wasn’t more time for discussion ( and I was less mobile in moving around, because of my foot injury).

Great finale of a super interesting 5-day conference with a wonderful talk by Sergey Radchenko. Lot of inspirational ideas gathered. Holidays already over, next week I will be restarting my hard PhD work.

Wederom een goed stuk. Het zou ook goed zijn wanneer we leren weer eens een debat te voeren op argumenten ( en daarbij ook bereid zijn naar elkaar te luisteren) in plaats van steeds te spelen op emoties en onderbuikgevoelens.

Have ordered it and am very much looking forward to a great summer read.
