Perched upright on a weathered stump, a small brown Wren tilts its head back mid-call against a soft golden backdrop, alert and vocal.
Many MPs claim to care about nature.
Tomorrow afternoon will be the test.
On Tuesday 3rd March there will be a debate in Parliament on red lines for nature.
We’ll be watching to see who shows up. Empty seats will say a lot.
Tell us who you expect to see there tomorrow. 👇

Just had a male Blackcap, Snuff Mill Lane #Cottingham 1st of the year for me. I wonder where it's been overwintering?

Share your BirdTrack records with others over social media
Vowed to bird more this year than last. Also to visit small sites closer to me. Led me to a short visit to Bransholme Lagoon on 01/03/2026, 14:21 - 15:02. View my #BirdTrack list: app.bto.org/birdtrack/pu...
Will certainly be worth revisiting.

This looks really great, it feels wrong not to make a purchase when there is clearly so much time and energy involved. It just MIGHT be the kick in the pants I need with a project of my own too, well, MIGHT be...

Somehow the summary email (end Jan) for my @bto-gbw.bsky.social passed me by until just now. But delighted with the summary as always. #YorkshireBirding #UKBirding #GardenBirding

Great record Ian.
I'm always impressed by your photos, apologies if I've asked before but what camera do you use, please?

Now and the next 4 weeks are the very best time of year to find Willow Tits, which are paired and defending territories. They're at their most vocal and obvious until the leaves come out. Report all certain sightings to county recorder and @birdtrack.bsky.social to help monitor remaining populations

My book is out there in the wild
Although I have had copies of the book for about a month now (and I had a great day at Adastra a couple of weeks ago by way of a 'soft launc...
As it's publication day, I have put a few words down about what I have tried to do with the book, it's a lot more than just pan-species listing. Please have a read. I am now an author!

My 1st trap of 2026 26/2 VC61. This Streamer (Anticlea derivata) Early, as @sj84turner.bsky.social pointed out but I just checked and I didn't realise how early!
According to yorkshiremoths.co.uk earliest record is week 11, 12-18 Mar. This is the start of week 9! @doublekidney.bsky.social #TeamMoth
