Firefighters, performers, educators, public service workers and many others are raising their voices to demand a global plan to move away from coal, oil and gas and secure a safe future for all. 👩‍🚒 🎭 👩‍🏫🌱

They join a growing global labour movement representing more than 30 million workers pushing for a just transition that protects workers’ rights, communities, and the climate.

Two major UK trade unions, Equity and the Fire Brigades Union, have officially endorsed the call for a fast, fair, and financed phase-out of fossil fuels.

Voices from the Pacific and Colombia speak from direct experience of extraction and climate impacts. Their call is clear. A fair shift away from fossil fuels must include the people who face the consequences first.

But there is hope—the Conference planned in April, as well as a potential #FossilFuelTreaty, offers a different pathway toward a fossil-free future.

The UNFCCC’s consensus-based process, as well as the lack of concrete proposal to create the framework for developing countries to phase out fossil fuels, hindered the adoption of a roadmap in the COP cover decision text.

Though the #COP30 outcome text fell short of needed action on fossil fuels, the President of COP30 has pointed towards the Conference—to be cohosted by Colombia and the Netherlands next April—as a key next step towards securing a future free from fossil fuels. 🇨🇴🇳🇱
