Outside of SB 5201 not being held for further study, I don't disagree that it's not far off from being effectively dead.

I'm not against the bill at all. I my 13 years of working on drug policy within legislative bodies, I have never seen a bill held for study start moving again in the same session. Would love for this to buck that trend, but i'm not going to pretend I don't know what it signals based on my exp.

Decrim has a 100% failure rate when pushed through state legislative bodies. With that said, I'll be watching this one closely, especially if/when this bill passes over to the Senate, which is where previous attempts have stalled in RI.

I don't give credit to the federal government often, BUT, the FDA did a good thing by issuing this alert on the dangers of Amanita Muscaria in food products. This is an vital step forward to protect public health and uphold the integrity of the emerging psychedelic space.

The only state that has currently has criminal penalties removed (aka true decrim) is CO. All of the localities fall under LLEP, because they don't have the ability to change state statute which is where the criminal aspect of the law resides.

Bingo. I've been banging pots and pans on this subtle, but important distinction for a long time now. If just one person thinks they are immune from prosecution, and does something illegal and is caught, lowest law enforcement priority won't prevent them from being prosecuted.
