NEW PREPRINT! 🦠⚖️🌡️ The Pandemic Agreement is the first global health treaty to name climate change, and behind the scenes, the UNFCCC was a source of both inspiration and conflict. Cristina Arnés-Sanz and team tracked climate issues through three years of negotiations: papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....

We are published! We quantifying the spatiotemporal dynamics of the first two major waves of SARS-CoV-2 in the USA is online now!
By mapping the infections we were able to quantify the spread of SARS-CoV-2 over the contiguous US and we also estimated the speed of spread! tinyurl.com/y87tjnmd
Three years ago we set out to visualize and quantitatively examine the movement of SARS-CoV-2 leading up to the first two major COVID-19 waves in the US. Today all that hard work "hit the shelves" at PLOSCompBio. 🛟 Watch the spread (we have movies) and read more here: dx.plos.org/10.1371/jour...

Olha a linguagem usada aqui.
“O Irã não dá sinais de capitulação, ataca novos alvos na região” ou “O presidente Trump diz que havia justificativa para atacar” olha como o sujeito e objeto do verbo são omitidos de forma a parecer que a primeira frase não é consequência da ação da segunda
Isso aqui é o puro porno bélico. E não tô falando dos EUA e Israel, esse tipo de matéria é na verdade um modo de normalizar a violência e a barbáries, tornar atos de guerra um mero espetáculo tecnológico

Very special to wake up today to a profile of @viralemergence.org from Yale. We’re in month eight of turmoil right now, and it’s hard to focus on the science, but the truth is: we have a lot more work to do.

This recent RCT of an "AI stethoscope" claims the technology "shows promise" for diagnosing cardiovascular conditions.
It does not.
It is a textbook example of the risks of conducting unprincipled 'per protocol analyses'. Once again, peer review at a major medical journal has failed.

It is crazy how some YouTubers are just producing longer and longer videos, is like a movie about some niche subculture genre or a conspiracy plot about politics or how to make your espresso, a tutorial of one hour.
What strikes me is how pressures from the algorithm they’ve been to produce it

Vc manja que a história da demência foi plantada por um jornalista que na época da eleição tava tendo um caso com o RFK jr.? E que os democratas só aceitaram a Kamala porque ela é basicamente o Biden mais jovem

She stands in front of a large chalkboard filled with handwritten nuclear physics equations, nuclear mass data, and element symbols (including notations like I¹²⁹, Cr⁵², and various alpha, beta, and gamma values). Goeppert Mayer has a thoughtful, focused expression as she gazes upward slightly, with her lips pursed in concentration. She wears a patterned dress with short-sleeved matching jacket with a geometric black-and-white design, a pearl necklace, and her hair styled in soft curls. In her hands, she holds a wooden slide rule.
Theoretical physicist Maria Goeppert Mayer died #OTD in 1972.
She shared the 1963 #Nobel Prize in Physics (w/Wigner & Jensen) "for their discoveries concerning nuclear shell structure." She was the second woman to win a Nobel in #physics. (Who was the first?)
