I wrestle with this every day. In the end, though, I realize I do what I do not necessarily because it makes any difference in the world (who knows, maybe sometimes it does?) but because it's who I am. Let's not let them take that from us.

The thing is, if we don't actively protect our copyright, even when people are using it for seemingly "good" reasons, then anyone can violate it for any reason at any time, and we can't really defend it.

'Beware Tim Houston, we're coming': "Special interests” rally held in Halifax - Halifax Examiner Mi'kmaw activists, social justice, labour, and environmental groups organized event to oppose changes by government.

So, this Brandon Blades used the below photo from a story about the "special interests" rally I reported on March 5, 2025 and used it in a Facebook post he wrote last week.

We politely asked him to at least give us credit and then he blocked me.

"Choosing to decimate arts and cultural funding, equity programs, and the like while letting big extractive industries run over the province without meaningful royalty payments is a political choice, not some ironclad economic rule of the universe," writes @timbousquet.bsky.social

It is real, and it is enormous, but Houston doesn't value it enough to even measure the loss of them.
