"We don't know how AI works" is not a serious argument.

Nova Scotia - a province known for endless rainy days & many bountiful rivers & lakes - is into its 4th month of extreme drought. This is the French River, that provides Tatamagouche with water (or not). Climate crisis kicking in. But: let’s frack and clearcut anyway, says NS Premier Tim Houston.

I was taught that you always bring a bottle of wine, and then the host thanks you for that bottle, puts it away and brings out another bottle they were planning for the meal.

Obviously, this is loser shit, but I think AI has really cemented itself as the visual language of fascism. It's anti-human, flattened, uninteresting, and cheap. It's like looking at a Potemkin Village and thinking that's the same as architecture.

The Symphony is one of those ridiculous giant playground ships that usually just goes from New York to the Bahamas, but the hurricanes have made that impossible. It was announced that it was going to Sydney, but the Marine Terminals there are too small to handle it.

The cruise ship Symphony of the Seas is in Halifax today. This is, I think, the largest cruise ship to ever call here, with something like 6,000 passengers, plus another 2500 or so crew. (It's about three times the size of the Queen Mary 2.)

I had not seen this announcement, and you probably won’t be surprised to hear I think it’s a terrible development.

In a society with ongoing linguistic tensions, the last thing the government should be doing is pushing an AI tool that will produce translations with more errors and less context.
