And to explain the symbolism of the design:
+ Dark Sign = Furtive Pygmy (ancestor of humans)
+ Chains = Gwyn, to represent his oppression of the Furtive Pygmy
+ Skeleton Hands = Gravelord Nito
+ Roots = Witch of Izalith

A rectangular tower shield designed with symbolism from the Dark Souls 1 lore. There is a bonfire sword in the middle of the shield, a glowing red circle around the hilt to represent the Dark Sign (Furtive Pygmy), with Chains radiating from the circle to the edges of the shield to represent the Gwyn's oppression of the Pygmy. There are skeleton hands reaching from the bottom to grasp the sword blade to represent Gravelord Nito, and tree roots at the bottom of the shield forming the base of the bonfire sword to represent the Witch of Izalith.

I designed this shield for the 2013 Dark Souls 2 contest with the prize to have it appear in-game. I based it on the 4 Lord souls and their grasp around the bonfire. Had a lot of fun working on it even though I didn't win!
