curious to hear what these are, knowing that you also 100% the game

granted I just played it and benefitted from a handful of patches that demonstrate that even they realized that some of that friction was a bit much, but I don’t really recall anything super egregious

any issues or frustrations I had with this game felt largely immaterial within minutes of eventually overcoming them, and what is left is a top-tier metroidvania that stands with the likes of ori 2 and my favorite games in the metroid series

10/10, will be back to pharloom someday

a stunning visual experience with a strong if straightforward narrative and a protagonist whose personal journey and interactions with the world around her are so meticulously crafted that they goad you forward into leaving no stone unturned in a way that hollow knight never managed to do for me

...and exploration that much more satisfying and rewarding

so much of the online discussion surrounding silksong is fixated on its difficulty and either a celebration of that difficulty or repudiation of the game because of it that I think it detracts from what it is at its core,

i will need to reflect on why i enjoyed this so much relative to hollow knight because so many ideas are reinforced and double-downed on in this game, but i think much has to do with hornet being one of the best-characterized protagonists in a metroidvania in addition to her kit making movement...

this is one of the best games i've ever played, and especially as someone who was lukewarm on the first game i am both very happy and loath to admit to have been wrong about this one

went beyond the normal completion and got everything I could (w/o restarting) because the game was that compelling

thank you!! I wanted to play off the light/dark interplay idea that is so prevalent with this chapter and this fight, and given how much water = darkness in deltarune, it seemed fitting

and Kalos needs it way more with all the loose ends that were never resolved with no Pokemon Z

I think there’s potential for this if they’re very intentional with the limited scope and pack it with things to do, unlike scvi’s open world areas and towns which imo were kinda meh/ uninteresting

I agree with you that the trailer leaves something to be desired, but I’m also cautiously optimistic that this does for Kalos what Arceus did for Sinnoh in that it revisits an old region and adds to the history or lore of that region (in this case, telling a brand new story)

one of these days i'll get the urge to draw at an earlier time of day and *not* when I'm fighting to stay awake

and that validates my feelings after replaying the game a bunch, there's a distinct sense that they had to wrap up the final act faster than they'd have liked

that potential excites me a lot for this sequel even if it takes years, that they've got a lot of ideas they still want to realize

—and how unsatisfied with the original's dev was (good interview he did w ikumi nakamura this summer on her studio's channel)

he talks a decent amount about how stunted the original's development was in some ways, and how they had so much story they never got to see realized in the end product

it had a really profound impact on me as a kid and the way I think about art, games, and visual storytelling and I am so excited that more people get to experience it now

also the dev for this will be interesting over the next few years, listened to kamiya talk a lot about the original this year—

two days later the okami sequel still doesn't feel real, I have been joking about "okami 2 at this month's capcom presents" for the last several years

spent a lot of the last two days watching reactions to the announcement, so happy that this once very niche game means so much to so many people
