I joined CT AG William Tong to announce a lawsuit filed by 25 states & DC over the Trump administration‘s refusal to release almost $6B in emergency funds so families won’t see SNAP benefits interrupted starting Nov. 1st. My takeaway was clear: People are hurting,scared & uncertain…. But they understand what’s at stake and they want Both ...And
The government to be reopened AND their communities to be protected.

Higher Heights student led Education Summit was a great opportunity for elected officials, education stakeholders, parents and community members to come together in search of solutions and support for the education our children deserve.

We joined Mt. Olive Senior Center in celebrating 50 years of being “A Home Away From Home” for our seniors. Thank you for being a trusted community partner and a vital hub of social, recreational and support services for older adults.

Stories from CT residents who are facing skyrocketing health care costs reinforce the urgency of extending Affordable Care Act tax credits. Joined by the CT delegation and Community Health Center to spotlight what is at stake as families begin to receive premium notices.

With SNAP funding set to lapse, 42M children and families are at risk of experiencing hunger. 

I am leading 213 House Democrats in calling on the USDA to use contingency reserve dollars and all legal authority to fund SNAP during this shutdown.

House Democrats held another Steering & Policy hearing this week to gather testimonials from those who will be impacted if ACA tax credits are allowed to expire.
The urgency is clear and the time to negotiate is now.

The Hub Project & Unrig Our Economy hosted a call to break down the impact of the gov. shutdown. ACA tax credits, WIC, SNAP & public trust were discussed. Participants expressed fear, frustration & legitimate concern over what would happen if they lost insurance coverage or cuts to vital programs.

The Democratic Women's Caucus wore purple because October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month—an issue impacting millions each year.

Bessent says US considers doubling aid to Argentina to $40B The assistance is aimed at bolstering the country's collapsing currency and calming economic unrest before Oct. 26 midterm elections.

$40 billion is enough to extend ACA premium tax credits for 2 years.
This administration would rather bail out Argentina, than make sure Americans have access to affordable healthcare. Apparently we have the money…. it’s the will that’s lacking. Let that sink in.
