when we talk about efforts to "erase DEI" can we be more precise and say "efforts to re-segregate workplaces and schools"

one thing i think is true is that republicans assumed that democrats would not respond in kind and that the forceful pushback spooked them (a lesson to learn here, perhaps)

β€œTicking Time Bomb”: A Pregnant Mother Kept Getting Sicker. She Died After She Couldn’t Get an Abortion in Texas. Walker is one of several women ProPublica found with underlying health conditions who died when they couldn’t access abortions.

NEW:

In 2024, Tierra Walker was sick and getting sicker. She was also pregnant.

She knew abortion was illegal in Texas, but thought there was an exception for women like her, whose health was at risk. Doctors told her there was no emergency.

Then she died.

This is all John Roberts’ fault Trump owes his corrupt and abusive reign to one man.

Chief Justice John Roberts rigged our democracy, helped Trump retake power, and is now discarding legal and constitutional constraints on Trump's actions.

But Roberts needs Trump, too. This symbiotic relationship means there is no hope for course correction.

Excerpt from a BBC article: ""We usually work, 10, 11 or 12 hours a day," says a 49-year-old woman from Jiangxi unwilling to give her name. "On Sundays we work around three hours less."

She is in an alleyway, where a dozen people are huddled around a row of bulletin boards.

They are reading the job ads on the board, while examining the stitching on a pair of chinos draped over it.

This is Shein's supply chain. The factories are contracted to make clothes on order - some small, some big. If the chinos are a hit, orders will ramp up and so must production. Factories then hire temporary workers to meet the demand their permanent staff cannot fulfil.

The migrant worker from Jiangxi is looking for a short-term contract - and the chinos are an option.

"We earn so little. The cost of living is now so high," she says, adding that she hopes to make enough to send back to her two children who are living with their grandparents.

"We get paid per piece," she explains. "It depends how difficult the item is. Something simple like a t-shirt is one-two yuan [less than a dollar] per piece and I can make around a dozen in an hour.""

The people who make Shein's clothes labor for ten to twelve hours per day (in violation of China's labor laws), some up to seven days a week, and earn as little as 15 to 30 cents per t-shirt.

the nuzzi story is fun and all but at the center of it is the elevation of a man who has dedicated his life to making children catch preventable diseases to a position where he can enact harm at enormous scale

Could the Epstein Files kerfuffle take down Trump? Sure, maybe. Which could end up with Russell Vought and Steve Miller transferring allegiance to a MJT or Tucker Carlson or whomever. Don't take your eye off the big picture. It's the fascism, stupid.

The House approves 427-1 and the Senate unanimously approves it. The president signs it into law…So the DOJ has 30 days to release (BTW why are they given 30 days? It should be released immediately.) the Epstein files. At the last minute, a bullshit investigation starts and they can’t be released.

I kinda like reading this in Harvard’s student paper considering that the last public pronouncement Summers made before his shit hit the fan was a bullying threat to round up alumni to β€œinvestigate” The Crimson for its β€œmoral bankruptcy” on supporting Palestine. Who’s being investigated now, Larry?!

20.11.2025 03:44 β€” πŸ‘ 336    πŸ” 70    πŸ’¬ 13    πŸ“Œ 2

That's a good start, but Harvard itself on an institutional level is just as compromised as he is.

A whole lot of Summers' colleagues gotta see the fucking door.

For instance, every single person who Epstein met in his 40+ visits to Harvard *after his 2008 conviction*.

As he plotted with a known sex offender a plan to sexually exploit a mentee, this leave should be permanent

He has proven himself to be categorically unfit to be in contact with students, at Harvard or anywhere else

Harvard just opened an investigation into Larry Summers's ties to Epstein.

That's just PR cover for Harvard.

They've known this entire time.

Epstein literally had an office at Harvard for years.
