US universities’ settlements with Trump ‘will only fuel his authoritarian appetite’
Experts say settlements worth hundreds of millions will further embolden US president’s use of ‘coercive tactics’
“‘Unsurprisingly, the anticipatory obedience of UCLA administrators has not prevented Trump administration attacks,’ the UCLA Faculty Association wrote in a statement. ‘Each university that falters legitimates the Trump administration’s attacks on all of our institutions of higher education.’”

The Center for the sociology of innovation learned with great sadness that Michel Callon has passed away.
A graduate of the École des Mines, Michel joined the center in the late 1960s and was its director from 1982 to 1994.

The next part of the plan to steal the midterms and/or the 2028 election - an attempt to do a mid-decade census to take seats and electoral votes away from blue states. I knew this was coming.

That “may” in the headline is hilariously bad.
Cementing rich white rule is (and has long been) the point of most GOP policy and that is definitely the case for selective admissions.

Regardless of politics, economists should make clear: we do not condone reckless attacks on our statistical agencies, including by our fellow economists.
The staff at these agencies work painstakingly to collect the data our democracy and economy depend on.

mRNA vaccines are a game-changer. Faster to develop, generally safer, easy to modify, huge potential for wider applications (e.g. cancer). If the vaccine has been approved, it's already been thoroughly tested in randomised controlled trials. Nobody's trying to poison anyone with these vaccines.
