We have to work to give people options. Then we have to work to make sure people are aware of and feel empowered to take those options. I'm oversimplifying, but the path is there, patriarchy or not.

But seriously, the problem in my opinion is not women being homemakers, but as you say, women not feeling like they have any other choice. It needs to be a choice for everyone involved, and we as people should respect the choices that different people in different situations make.

Yeah, I think that is a problem. What we need to get to as a society is where it's truly a choice that a couple makes. For example, in my marriage, my wife and I made that decision together. Or rather, she made the decision and told me how it was going to go. 😂

Religion has nothing to do with it. People need to stop shaming others for making decisions on how to make their own lives work. Trump has nothing to do with that, but becomes a factor because people want to shame and not understand.

I don't think I did. The OP basically said "If being a stay at home parent is so great, why aren't more men doing it?" which is a shot at men but also a veiled criticism of women who choose to do it.

It's definitely not an easy job - which is why we should, as a society, respect those who choose to make it their life's work - men or women. Too many people look down on those who choose to make their job raising their own children.
