In the process, Weiss gets to continue two of her lifelong passion projects: trying to get people fired, and mainstreaming previously verboten ideological strands, like how the Nazi salute means something else or how genocidal starvation is actually fine. Even in the most generous reading—where her entire career and indeed life might reflect anything more than the cold calculus of a pure cynic who wants the approval and patronage of the world's richest and vainest reactionaries—Weiss's entire worldview is in the negative. She positions herself as a freewheeling intellectual and iconoclast, taking on the stilted orthodoxies of liberal power, but the irony is that her effectiveness is totally circumscribed by the limits of that orthodoxy. She does not have an original thought in her head, merely a list of supposed excesses and hypocrisies riddling the elite liberal world.

The Adobe account asks "what inspires you"

Response: "Not you. take CURSE OF RA" followed by a bunch of hieroglyphs that would probably break your screen reader. Much like the curse of Ra might.

The right to speak our minds and to disagree with each other - to disturb, even - is at the very heart of what it means to be a free people. It is not to be denied. Not by violence, not by the abuse of governmental power, nor by acts of corporate cowardice.
As a Guild, we stand united in opposition to anyone who uses their power and influence to silence the voices of writers, or anyone who speaks in dissent. If free speech applied only to ideas we like, we needn't have bothered to write it into the Constitution. What we have signed on to - painful as it may be at times - is the freeing agreement to disagree.
Shame on those in government who forget this founding truth. As for our employers, our words have made you rich.
Silencing us impoverishes the whole world.

Got to hand it to Bari Weiss, who is a sub-mediocre writer and totally off-the-rack thinker but an absolutely elite teacher's pet and true-blue snitch. You can make a good career even in a dying industry that way, provided you don't somehow develop a conscience.

Not to sound strident but my experience is that every insight to be gained in creative undertakings comes through the process itself. The sketch is exactly the place to figure out something new. (Okay maybe for a truly meaningless deliverable but that still supports tech that actually hates art)
