So the guy himself is saying they arent really even seeing productivity gains? He said they are just using AI because they are afraid of being left behind. He is inviting this public scorn by repeating techbro talking points for no benefit at all. The mind of a CEO is fascinating.

what drives me mad is this "oh it's just a tool for concept art". have you ever looked at game concept art. it's the most interesting thing to look at!!! you can see what the art direction wanted to create, what inspired them. the sketches, the roughness of it, the ideas. it's life, it's art.

It's the MOST exciting part. It's where you get to have the most ideation of what something can be. It only makes sense if you think of artists solely as hired guns.

Beautiful games have been made forever w/o genai in concept art. This all feels like an issue of suits wanting fully finished pictures because they refuse to use their brains when looking at concept work.

Even if genAI wasn't completely unethical for plagiarism reasons, it is still unethical for environmental reasons.

Not even on my Concept Art degree were we allowed to use genAI because of how unethical and straight up inaccurate it is.
