I flew to Cape Town earlier this year on United and the “Polaris” lounge in ORD was closed so I went to the regular club lounge. Then in EWR got to try the Polaris lounge. Main difference was the lower tier one was much more crowded. Fancier one had showers and nap rooms and food was nicer.

Borrowed a birding backpack from my local library. Adult and child size binoculars, a bird guide and a kids bird guide too. Super excited to check out Horicon Marsh during migration season! Libraries rock!

When I took my child to the children’s hospital for an audiology appointment they didn’t have a single thing in the emails or on the website about the bus route that goes right there or where bike racks were. Lots about parking!Also they validate parking but nothing for people taking the bus. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I used to work for Salesforce and when we had a meeting there it was super easy to take the express bus from the airport to the transit center. It was great and we had some nice dinners.

We also saw "pluralistic ignorance": MOST PEOPLE SUPPORTED NON-CAR TRAVEL, BUT THOUGHT THEY WERE THE MINORITY! 65-69% said they support non-car travel more than other people, which can't be true. Does the majority assume their own view is odd and so go quiet in debate, thus enabling loud minorities?

I would also say just be prepared for some trial and error. I wrote down the temp and what I was wearing so I could dial in how many layers depending on the temp. I get really cold hands so eventually got some lobster claw gloves in addition to the pogies

Didn’t get to post last night but kudos to Madison Bikes for a great Bicycle Film Festival! So many great films with messages of community and joy.

Yeah she lives in a pretty car centric area but she can walk or bike her trike to the grocery store and church, but not to a lot of her other engagements. I tried to show her a great place near me that is on a bus line, has a library, coffee shop, gym, hair salon, etc. She liked it 💡

In my family’s case, I *wish* my mom was a non-driver. I don’t let my kids ride in her car (rare since she lives 2000 miles away). She is not safe! She told me that you might as well put her in a nursing home if I take the keys away. 😩

It's one thing to talk about the 1 in 20 Americans who live in households without cars. But it's another to talk about all the people who live in households with fewer cars than people who need to drive to participate in an autocentric society, particularly kids, elders, and people w/disabilities.

People in the complex said they were zip tying kids and they didn't have names or anything. They took you first, then ran to see if you had any outstanding warrants - not just immigration. And the FBI helped them.
