My Slow Impact adventure is finished and I came away with some absolute moments, but my friend Jasmine’s photo of me getting an impossible down the ASU steps is my favorite.

Bike + skateboard: a powerful combo for building awareness of (and critiques of) the built environment. Plus a lot of fun.

Fairwell Seattle. Off to Tempe, AZ tomorrow where the forecasted high temperature is 90 degrees this weekend. I don't recall what that even feels like.

Thinking about the difference between "sensible policy" and "popular policy" a lot lately.

My heartfelt wish for all of you is to advocate for change so long and so successfully that, one day, allies will complain that your accomplishments kind of suck and need to be improved.

The urbanism serenity prayer takes some creative liberties with the original, but it's still a good prayer

It's a good metal, Jeremy. Can be stretched very thin, and recycled many times. I admit I don't understand how it's going to bring about infinite abundance, but I'm willing to let people smarter than me try.

We have a palm tree in our front yard in Ballard. As far as I can tell it's about 30 years old. It's diminutive, and a little sad, but it still putters along. Strange tree choice for Seattle.

I'm assuming Dan means a multimodal transit hub - but I could uncharitably assume he meant 1,592 parking spaces and 48 bike parking spaces. Can't be sure though.

What would a child friendly city look and feel like? My mind instantly goes to safe streets, clean public bathrooms, and whimsy built into daily life. Swings at bus stops, more public art and street food vendors. Most importantly we’d need a culture of care, watching out for each other in public.

I'm trying to be grateful for it but I also know the reality of not skating is going to suck so much. But at least it will get to be shit with all the good friends.

"A preliminary analysis of Vision Zero policies showed that the 17 early adopter cities experienced a smaller increase in fatalities per 100,000 population (+15%) than the other 83 cities (+40%) (Figure 2)."

Fewer deaths are always better than more.
