Sim City 2000 was my life for so long. What made it even better were "SimCopter" and "Streets of Sim City" which allowed you to import your SC2K maps to fly and drive through them respectively from a 1st Sim perspective. Good times!

A version of Trek that leans a little further away from the "soft" end of the soft/hard-scifi spectrum (perhaps more akin to Babylon 5...) has long been a fantasy of mine. 😁

The Canberra is a dedicated passenger liner intended to facilitate easy and regulated travel between member worlds of the Federation and its colonies. Based on the Sydney class only scaled up so it can accommodate a thousand+ folks for a weeks-long interstellar hop.

The Okinawa is Starfleet's primary fighting vessel; Intended to be just big enough to pack a nasty amount of firepower without compromising too much in size or mass-power ratio.

The Perdix-class (TMP Daedalus) surveys deep space, far from any star and collects wide-band astrometric data of the entire sky. Anomalies, techno-signatures, and points of scientific interest are forwarded back to Starfleet so proper cruisers can engage in close up investigation.

In my own head canon- transporters, while convenient- are massively energy-inefficient means of getting people and stuff off of planets. So for situations that require ample amounts of "space lift," carriers like the Melvill (TMP Hoover) can provide fleets of shuttlecraft or heavier vehicles.

Nevertheless, I've been pleasantly surprised before. Perhaps I will be again.

NGL, I'm kind of skeptical about the notion that after 30 years of bouncing around as a concept/rumor, someone has finally figured a way to make a Starfleet Academy show that won't quickly degrade into something akin to Star Trek: 90210 or a CW teeny-bopper drama.

The Season 3 opener of Strange New Worlds is pretty underwhelming, but the Trelane episode that followed it is highly amusing. Props to Rhys Darby for, I assume, allowing the spirit of William Campbell himself to possess his body to reprise the role. XD

Reminds me of when I watched "A Christmas Story 2," a film that is set in the year 1946, and I couldn't get over the fact that any time the characters handled money, they would use MODERN (2010s) American bills instead of the designs that existed in the 40s.
