Thanks. Adding that to the list for potential updates.

Think happy hour ends too early? It doesn’t at these D.C. bars. Working late? Here’s where you can find discounted drinks and food until at least 8 p.m., and sometimes all night long.

Think happy hour ends too early? I've spent months going to bars where you'll find half-price cocktails, $4 beers and other specials until 8 p.m. β€” and sometimes until last call.

Sitting directly next to Alex Ovechkin at Eebee’s wasn’t on my 2026 bingo card, but here we are…

It’s a go-to for so many occasions.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – No empty seats, many high fives and drained Bloody Marys at Tune Inn as U.S. clinches Olympic hockey gold.

β€œBorn to Run” playing on jukebox, sources say.

Add the Queen Vic (who also show soccer of some sort)!
Add Murphy’s of Alexandria!

Add Midlands!
Add Tune Inn (with the caveat that they can’t serve alcohol until 10 am)!

Over the last 24 hours, I’ve been threading the names of bars that have announced they’ll be open for the US-Canada hockey game on Sunday morning. Here you go:

21.02.2026 21:26 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Add the Irish Channel, where you can stick around to watch the North London Derby if you’re *not* an Arsenal supporter!

21.02.2026 20:17 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Add Ireland's Four Courts, which is opening at 7:30!

21.02.2026 16:40 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Add Duffy's Hill East (which is closing at the end of the month)!

Add Ragtime!

So far, Walter's and Franklin Hall have said they'll be open at 8 am for the US-Canada gold medal hockey game on Sunday. (And if you watch at the latter, you can stick around for the North London Derby...)

It's been free. But outside of winter, weekend reservations are very hard to get. (Every Saturday in March and some Sundays are already full.) The advantage of taking the bus is being able to show up and walk in without tickets.

D.C. area could see pasty snow Sunday into Monday. How much could fall? Our first estimate β€” subject to change β€” is for 1 to 3 inches, mostly accumulating Sunday night into early Monday.

Here we go again: Capital Weather Gang predicting "light accumulations of around 1 to 3 inches" of snow Sunday, BUT "cannot completely dismiss" a chance of "6 inches or more of snow by Monday morning."

Hence my caveat. I’ve had pints from different bartenders poured more carefully.

Crowdsourcing the cheapest happy hour Guinness in D.C. Best I can think of is $6 pints until 7 pm at PJ Clarke’s. Anyone have a cheaper draft option? NB – Not asking for β€œbest,” just β€œcheapest.”

β€’ More importantly: All brewing equipment is staying in Shaw. "Another brewpub concept" is taking over, Cheston says, with details to be announced soon.

19.02.2026 19:21 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 1

β€’ Shaw replacement will *not* be a brewpub. Production brewing will take place in Brookland, and the previously announced Eckington location (coming this summer?) will be a brewpub. Shaw replacement will be a "restaurant," Cheston says.
