The image shows part of a public art installation known as "Conversation Piece" by Spanish artist Juan MuΓ±oz, located near Littlehaven Beach in South Shields, UK. The installation comprises 22 bronze figures, each approximately 1.5 meters high and weighing about a quarter of a ton. Locals affectionately refer to the figures as the "Weebles" due to their rounded bases, reminiscent of the 1970s toy. The figures are arranged in small groups, some appearing to engage in conversation, while others gaze out to sea, reflecting the piece's title. In a recent development, hats and scarves were added to the figures during the winter of 2024-2025 by a local craft group member, Sheila Young, who felt the figures looked cold and wanted to honor men lost in war.

Video games don't feel like they used to when you were a kid because once you outgrow child labor laws, you have more than two games to play in a year. Choice paralysis makes you less invested in learning 100% of any particular game. Pretzel explains

"What about epoll()?"
poll() is almost a drop-in replacement for select(), giving it more bang for buck when making a minor upgrade. Switching from select() to poll() is more urgent and takes less effort than migrating to OS-specific APIs like Linux epoll and *BSD kqueue.
The UNIX/POSIX system call select(), an API to wait for one of several sockets to have new data, is obsolete and dangerous with high file descriptor counts. It should be replaced with poll() sooner rather than later. fluffy explains why

Actual Mix is a tool to experiment with color math and pseudo-hires, two blending features of the S-PPU (Super NES graphics chip). Set three colors and five flags, and it calculates what color the hardware should be displaying.
