If you get the chance to see the movie Wasteman, absolutely do so. It feels like a new generation's answer to Alan Clarke, Ken Russell, Shane Meadows etc. Unflinchingly beautiful and wonderful. The two leads are absolute masters at their craft.

And as a horror writer and horror game developer, it does some incredibly clever things to keep you scared. The Leon sections solve the problem of how to make you a gun-toting powerhouse while also being scary. The Grace sections are just fantastic. Legitimately in awe of it.

I think the reason I was lukewarm on it yesterday was because I kinda assumed this was gonna be as good as it gets, and I'd seen everything it has to offer. Totally wrong. It constantly reinvents while keeping the fundamental DNA.

It manages to be a high octane action game AND a genuinely well-done stealth game and both aspects of the approach are genuinely scary. I am about ready to call it as a perfect AAA horror game.

I am honestly, genuinely blown away by how good Resident Evil: Requiem is. In my opinion very few other games in the series even come close. Each section improves on the last. The writing is actually good. The sci-fi bioplague plot somehow fits with the rest but also makes sense.
