Probably true.

the Constitution explicitly states that the Framers were forming a "more perfect Union."

implicit in that wording is that they did not form a perfect Union.

it is, rather, for each succeeding generation of Americans to pursue the unending task of perfecting it, just a little bit more.

I disagree with the assertion that Democrats are secretly pro-war in this case, but I would phrased that basically any other way had I realized that. I absolutely apologize to @notalawyer.bsky.social and anyone else that I offended. My error was careless but that does not make it less harmful.

Hey, quick note. I flippantly QTed this article with a riff on the old "some say Mickey Kaus blows goats" line from the aughts. When I posted that, I did not realize Peter was Iranian. Obviously, the racist stereotypes about the middle east make that line land quite a bit differently.

I Guess We Should Talk About Mickey Kaus Blowing Goats Now Yesterday afternoon, Atlantic 's coolish blogger extroadinaire Matthew Yglesias posted angrily about Mickey Kaus' insistence on the John Edwards-Hippie affair rumors even though there's nothing really...

This is an old internet meme. I Guess We Should Talk About Mickey Kaus Blowing Goats Now share.google/XUrUmNiA1544...

Didn't know he was Iranian, have deleted.

04.03.2026 03:33 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

At any rate, I am deleting the post because while I generally leave up inartful posts because I believe you should own your mistakes, my belief in not being racist supersedes that.

Yeah, I didn't read the whole thing because I saw the "heavily implied" quote and noped out.

Every person in this society will do something racist, and while this was inadvertent, that doesn't excuse it. I apologize for that, and again, would have gone a different way to make that point.

04.03.2026 03:27 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

There is a harmful, false, and racist assertion that middle easterners engage in sexual activities with livestock.

04.03.2026 03:26 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Sure. Just like my fact free assertion and Peter's fact free assertion you can also make fact free assertions.

04.03.2026 03:24 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

And I did not know Peter's ethnicity, and apologize for inadvertently playing into harmful stereotypes. I was invoking the Rule of Goats, but would have gone for something else.

Incidentally, I don't actually think Peter is a goat fucker, and I don't really think it's heavily implied by this article. I do think there's as much evidence for it as I do that Schumer and Jeffries want to vote for the Iran war, something Peter asserts is "heavily implied" in their statements.

The level of motivated reasoning required for some pundits to convince themselves that Netanyahu, Adelson, et al. did not actually understand their own interests when they strongly favored Trump to win is beyond my comprehension

The CIA also interfered in my attempts to woo Jennifer Connelly and become a professional baseball player.

Hey @ddayen.bsky.social is Matt’s racism just a personality quirk or do you agree with him and are too chickenshit to say it

oh everything about this is incredible.

This is not going to be a popular opinion but I remain fairly impressed that, whatever its shortcomings, I never once saw MPD substantially assist ICE or engage negatively with observers in any way. I'm sure it happened here or there, but in general the firewall seems to have held.
