Starting in a group built around the squick is also difficult, bc as someone who sees myself as harmless, other folks who don't sometimes accidentally see me as sanctimonious or not real enough. It's rough either way, so I've just backed up in working on personal lore by myself for now.

Balancing my personal interests & my desire to mix with a crowd is difficult sometimes, esp in large fandoms, where it's difficult to stay in lock step. I get bored by black & white thinking in stories& will end up with interests that squick people over time even though I think of myself as harmless

Trying to cut off pieces of myself in order to fit a group mold has been a fight for me my whole life. I'm great at playing friendly adversaries and providing safe drama to play off of, but it doesn't work well as a first impression, so I try to play it safe with my first character in a group

Starting to realize that my interest in RP & my interest in exploring dark themes to soothe myself don't always mix, esp when someone ends up in a group with me has incompatible trauma. I'll try to be polite and withdraw for the other person's sake, but it comes along with some resentment sometimes

When I make a character that's a little too disconnected from what would appeal to a large group, it's kind of a shock and a heartbreak when we don't gel, but I find that I'm a lot more interested in them and want to write more when I have complete creative freedom

Starting from zero, I'll play in the character creator to see what kind of look I can get. I usually base it on another character I'm obsessed with, then learn the world & what their unique place in it would be. For RP, I try to know a little something about the group first & design to fit gaps

Kiryll's been bullied almost all his life. It started with the neighbors when he was 6, and his older half-sister started when he was 4. His father tried to give him context for it. Bullies work through jealousy and pettiness and stealing joy, so make your joy unstealable

Kiryll has the same accent as C-3P0 from Star Wars (British, classy, nervous)

Kiryll had no context at first, but now he does. He had to be taught, though

Kiryll's secret is that he's nervous all the time. If people can't tell, it means his clever ruse of standoffishness and humor is working

Gotta be more direct abt how I feel about finding things others discard& using or glowing them up into something the person who discarded them could never have fathomed or built, and set the silly jokes aside. I too have been discarded, but found by someone who saw my worth, and that matters a lot

Everything I find in the clearance section is actually a treasure, labeled for discard by people who don't know what they have, or can't fathom its value. Maybe there's something unmarketable about it, maybe the shelf space is needed for other stuff, but it becomes extremely valuable to me

Went to locally owned independent art store to gnab everything I could within reason from their clearance section, found an ink color that was perfect for Verdance, said it was fitting bc he's fashioned from objects from the clearance section, & my spouse called me out on how mean I am to my blorbos

I love art history, typography, web design, and calligraphy! I've started to try to collect more physical art supplies so I get more reasons to put down my controller or phone and touch grass bc I desperately needed it after Endwalker

It's like I drank a gallon of ham glaze and it's stuck in my throat and nose

I try not to be judgemental about things like addictions. Shame from isolation& direct judgements doesn't help problems people with addictions face. Smoking one clove doesn't make me an addict, drinking maybe once every 2 weeks doesn't make me an alcoholic, but damn, I forgot the sensory experience

I typically only ever smoked cigarillos or cloves, and then only in the summer, and only socially (once every two non-congruent months or so). IDK how people can smoke more than one cigarette a day, let alone one that isn't attached to a pleasant sensory experience like a clove

I was scared straight for smoking as a kid when my stepfather smoked inside. I only became somewhat curious about cigars as a way to masculinize myself when I started working at Wawa, but hours after my first clove cigarette in 2 years, I realized I forgot about the tar

Kiryll has a ton of regrets. He tries to hide them, but he works so openly to make up for them that it's pretty clear what he feels bad about. Since a lot of the regrets are accidents or things out of his hands, he feels worse about them than he really needs to
