The 1890 equivalent of this is that I don't remember to throw my braid over the correct shoulder in church, which means I'm some kind of witch. So I no longer attend church.

I say, as a person who got hate email on my web shrine in 1998, admonishing me for not considering Sephiroth's feelings as a 16 year old. Maybe it's always been this bad, but the amount of hurt has increased because microblogging is so fast paced

Sometimes I wonder if fandom discourse hyper-escalation was some kind of psy-op planted on tumblr to intentionally damage fan communities. It certainly is real people in fandoms being terrible to each other now, but it didn't use to be this bad.

I love being moved by fiction. I want to experience community. I don't love looking out across a digital watering hole looking for connection and finding threats, but something something incompatible trauma.

I wanna be able to no-sell mean bitches on the internet like I'm John Cena without having to say "yeah well video games aren't real." Because while the things in the games aren't real, my feelings are, and so are the feelings of many other people.

It's like if your Faith stat in Final Fantasy Tactics is really high, you can get a lot of healing out of magic spells and can cast real big, but you also take a ton of spell damage. Working on trying to reduce fandom stuff just so I'm not so damn sensitive, but it's wired very deeply within me.

Strangers on the internet be out there like "hey kys if you like the wrong video game character." I regret these words having any power over me. I let fiction hold so much over my head for such a long time bc I didn't have community irl, so the community I had was through fiction.

I don't know how I survived, but I did, and I'm grateful for it. I don't really know what to do with this remaining time other than try to put myself back together and have the best time I can. If you truly only get to live once, I want to make the second half of my life much better than the first

I used to be so focused and fearful of the afterlife when I was much younger. Obsessed with the concept that people deserved things and fate or something out there was watching over me. That faith brought me to a place where I was utterly destroyed by it, but yet, I survived.

I can always turn inward and work on only myself, but it damages my ability to do any community building, and I'm not interested in being a complete shutin anymore. I get burned out by too much social stuff at once, so I do need breathers, but as fucked up as this world is, I want to live.

Fandom used to be my escape from badness when I was growing up, but I learned pretty early on how liking the same things could also draw danger towards me. I have a ton of trust issues in fandom, so much so that I no longer want to talk to strangers about things I like bc I fear being judged

I grew up in a really unfair social strata, and now that I'm more or less escaped from their grasp, I have a very unfavorable outlook on people who think they're better than others so much that they just treat others badly bc they can get away with it.

There were so many logical reasons I could point out as evidence that I was lesser when I was growing up, but that kind of thinking was cyclical and isn't an island unto itself. The more time I spent as a doormat, the more I just let bad shit happen to me, reinforcing doormat behavior.

I feel a little less put together these days. A little less on point, ducks much less in a row. Less giving all of myself away until im in the negatives. I'm trying to work on keeping my mood stable and my inner peace existing. Treating myself like an equal and not a lesser lifeform.
