I saw mackerel that were only the size of herrings on a fishmongers slab in the local market last week.

can you summarise the percentage of the electorate that voted for each party in the by election ... and then go on to explain why winner-takes-all is an exercise in democracy.

Power Plant – GEL Energy

the Grauniad might imply that steam from the geothermal water is used directly in the turbines. But the GEL website confirms they use heat from the geothermal water to vaporise a (closed system) intermediate working fluid (it's not water) and this drives the turbines.

Given the temperature of the geothermal fluid, I suspect that it is *not* being used to drive turbines. Rather it will be used to heat a secondary (closed system) working fluid which will in turn drive the turbines.

a completely ridiculous electoral system where voters cannot vote for who they most agree with, but have to play some sort of guessing game to vote against who they least want.

can't you find someone to provide analysis of what is going on in the USA who realises that most of us un the UK have no vote in US elections and so they can talk to us as being reasonably grown up?

this US trade shambles must be what the gullible knew they were voting for when they took back control. We're all paying for it now, and will continue to pay for generations. Perhaps you could ask Mr Farage if it was worth it next time you're stroking him on #r4today

it doesn't matter whether or not Reform policies are realistic or implementable. They get the benefit now from just vocalising their outrageous prejudices. Later, if they can't be made to work, it'll all be blamed on some woke/European/[fill in your own favourites] conspiracy.

since President Trump has told his population that it is not the people/companies of the USA that pay his tariffs, I presume that he will now need to explain to them that refunds of the illegally collected taxes will not be to US consumers/companies but to the exporting countries.

I've read Ladybird books that use a more extensive vocabulary than the current President of the USA (aka lifetime president of the border peas) uses.

an electorate gullible enough to vote to leave the EU is not reliable enough to select a suitable head of state. Safer to keep to the accident of birth algorithm.

the Palace of Westminster will never become a maintainable, functional building suitable for a national parliament. Move parliament to new premises somewhere near the population centroid of the country and have a property developer convert the old pile into fancy flats for the rich.

does the BBC's Balance Theory reach as far as forcing a few words of sincere contrition out of one or two of the Russian assets (posing as UK politicians) who winkled the UK out of the EU by selling the gullible amongst us the snake-oil of "taking back control"?

Pedestrians following the logic of the Highway Code will tend to habitually keep left.
Highway Code Rule 1:
"Pavements and footways (including any path along the side of a road) should be used if provided. Where possible, avoid being next to the kerb with your back to the traffic. ..."
