I think it’s the same with stories. The flaws are harder to spot if you don’t write too

My mother grew up very poor. She was the oldest of 7 siblings.

They ate a lot of liver.

She has NEVER once given me liver. I don’t think she’s eaten it since leaving her parents’ home 50+ years ago

I am afraid to ask why liver traumatized her. Maybe RFK Jr. knows its terrible secrets.

I can’t do the back of the throat schwa sound.

On my work campus, there are a lot of Mandarin speakers. I like listening to them speak - not it eavesdropping way. I don’t speak Mandarin.

I just really like the way it sounds, how the words switch between a high tone in the front of the mouth and to a swish in the throat

I don’t idolize politicians. I know better.

But I had an opportunity to hear Kamala Harris speak tonight. I teared up when she walked out on stage and throughout the event.

It was so good to be surrounded by people who believe that we can be better- things are hard, not hopeless
