I read this in a day and seriously still do not know what I think...

Like many Black parents, my mother literally told us, "You'll have to work twice as hard to get half as far."

I remember when I was 12 and my dad told me he was so happy I was starting to look more like my mother as i got older. She is scottish/welsh and my dad was full Cherokee. I was 16 when the weight of that statement finally sank in.

Now all I can think about is this...

I believe you are right.

Pardon the language, but Fuck that. This pan, pagan, american librarian is doing everything she can think of to fight back. Some of us love our Canadian and Mexican nieghbors and need them to know that. This is a nation formed on power to the people. I hope the people see that soon.

Because we need books. We need them more when there are people telling us not to read, not to love ourselves and others, not to be empathetic to those different than us. There has never been a time since the creation of the written word when we have not needed them.

I am in Colorado but I welcome our future Canadian leaders and look forward to the metric system.

I follow a lot of my fav authors but Indie Book Spotlight @bookspotlight.bsky.social is a great one and Every Book @everybook.bsky.social is also really good. (Other than the regular librarian ones depending on type of librarian.)
