Kowloon Walled City In My Backyard and sodas at restaurants cost a quarter.
06.02.2025 15:08 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I paid FIVE DOLLARS for ONE Diet Coke at a restaurant near Gallery Place yesterday, and I donβt want to get too political but this is the fault of NIMBYs.
06.02.2025 15:08 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It occurs to me that Trump is attending the Super Bowl and Kendrick Lamar, likely the greatest diss track artist in history at the peak of his powers, is performing at halftimeβ¦ and does Trump really want to expose himself to that risk?
Mariann Budde has set a high bar but Kendrick might clear it.
The people who planted the mines in Minesweeper didnβt do a great job. They shouldnβt have put those numbers down too.
31.01.2025 02:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I remain grateful to @northjerseynews.bsky.social for letting me write earlier this month about Jimmy Carter and my former boss, Bill Pascrell, after both men died last year. www.northjersey.com/story/opinio...
27.01.2025 18:08 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Also, hopefully soon Professor Kries and I can discuss actually important issues, like how unusually good the Georgia menβs basketball team is this year, go very Dawgs.
24.01.2025 20:03 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0So yeah, maybe the law journal-industrial complex needs to be run by professional staff starting immediately.
24.01.2025 20:02 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It also applies to the same sort of article submitted by a professor, when 2L editors arenβt sophisticated enough to know theyβre poorly reasoned. And those articles then become some of the strongest persuasive authority out there.
24.01.2025 20:02 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Extraordinarily small potatoes! But the same principle applies all the way up to poorly reasoned (and unsigned?!) Harvard Law Review student notes promoting fringe right-wing legal theories.
24.01.2025 20:02 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Iβm grateful he caught thatβthe 2Ls cite checking the piece and the 3Ls doing final edits (of course!) did not have sufficient tax expertise to be able to correct that error. Nor did they have sufficient time to run the math on it and cross check it against relevant statutory authority and caselaw.
24.01.2025 20:01 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A relevant anecdote π§΅: in an early draft of my Note published in the Georgia Law Review last year, I had asserted that a hypothetical transaction was subject to income tax at a top 37% rate. My Note advisor pointed out that the transaction should properly be subject to the gift tax at a 40% rate.

23.01.2025 16:50 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Great to see, Professor Kreis! And loved seeing @sonjawest.bsky.social on this. Thatβs *my* ConLaw 2 professor π₯Ή
23.01.2025 13:35 β π 15 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0Back in November, I wrote that Georgia should adopt a red-flag law to advance gun safety after last fall's shooting at Apalachee High School. Check it out at the Georgia Law Review. georgialawreview.org/article/1260...
22.01.2025 21:39 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0To kick off Bluesky, I'm thinking about a classic @xkcd.com comic. For what it's worth, the French Navy seems to have an account on here.
