A lake near Rīga covered in ice and snow. Black specks can be seen on the ice - these are people out for a walk or ice fishing. The sky is overcast, but light.

It’s been a bit chilly in Latvia recently. The days are getting lighter and the abundant snow reflects this new light, but still the cold freezes beards and nostril hair alike.

I played a show with my newish group Not Not Jazz in the wonderful bar Aleponija - a magical night, which we recorded.

Whilst the world gets increasingly more chaotic, at least Rīga remains beautiful (and chilly). Scenes from NY with snow, fireworks, and good friends. Shortly after this I sang The Ramones in karaoke. So, Hey Ho, Let’s Go and make good things happen in our communities in 2026!

Neither. I mean parties hosted by small galleries for exhibition openings that spill out into the street, the bar next door and then venture elsewhere. Or parties in communal art spaces: labs, editing offices, rehearsal studios, residency spaces, etc…

All the cool creatives I know go to cool parties. They’re still skint though.

Caught them in Lithuania and they were magnificent. Unfortunately they’d sold out of merch.

What a great gig line-up!

It has reached the hibernation months in the Baltics and I feel this hard.

One of my most prized possessions is the cd box set of this. I must have listened through to it dozens of times as a teenager.

First post is up, but it’s just the track listing for last weeks show and a link to the Mixcloud. Something more substantial coming soon, a bit more hiking orientated.

So yeah, completely a skill issue.

If you go live abroad you soon find how accommodating people are to those who don’t speak the countries primary language(s). Generally they are highly accommodating and accepting, as long as you’re not rude and you are understandably polite.
