I meant to share here yesterday, but I forgot. I made a flyer for my storying-focused grad class that I’ll be teaching next fall, and I think it’s cute!!

An executive at a former company sent me and my team an irritating email. My colleague meant to forward it to me but accidentally responded to the sender with “asswipe.” Was a bit hard to explain that away!

We also have aqara locks / video doorbell which are solid. I don’t have direct experience with their stand-alone cameras but some quick searching doesn’t suggest Amazon or google owns them though it’s hard to say…

Completely agree! Though I also feel like we need more discussion about how those with influence / power are positioning science in problematic ways and what it might mean for people to trust / listen to them instead of / in addition to / in conjunction with scientists?

Apparently we need more public education efforts to understand the difference between things AI does on its own and things that humans program AI to do… AI issuing comments about its failings and suggesting it is working on them makes sense in Star Trek but frankly would be scary in the real.
