My guess is they’ll lean harder on monetizing their base (increases to PS+, etc) + finding another GAAS hit. Odds are very low for me to ever be interested in buying into a closed garden box again, no matter the exclusives. Too many games already out there!

Not surprised at the news about PlayStation 1P going exclusive again. I see people celebrating but it remains to be seen if it means a better cadence of quality SP experiences they were known for. Based on this gen, I’m skeptical but hopeful. Not exactly a consumer-benefitting move.

Real talk, who’s doing it better?

Starting March and I’ve only rolled credits on one 2026 game (High On Life 2). There’s been some interesting games released, but feels like this year will be heavily backlog focused. I’m sure we’ll see me doing a 180° by June 😝

One thing seems certain: We’ll know what direction Xbox is taking and if it’ll be successful fairly quickly. The new boss appears to jump to a new position every few years, so it seems inevitable they’ll want to make their mark quickly and move on to “bigger and better”.

Whatever you think of Xbox’s chances moving forward, the industry is worse with less solid competition. If you enjoy gaming, stop being a weirdo and clamoring for its doom and hope they do better. That console war stuff is played out.

Fort Solis might be the most “I did absolutely nothing” games I’ve played.

Moon: Remix RPG Adventure is something that should be right up my alley and I hate to say that it just didn’t click. The entire time, I felt confused, lost, and borderline irritated, resorting to using a guide throughout. Sucks, wish I loved it like others but hey!

Agreed, I dropped it quick. Overly busy, visually messy af, bullet sponge enemies, lame loot drops, slow nav. Nope

It’s 2026. No dev/pub should be listing different SKU and charging for the same game across the same ecosystem. Xbox One/X/PC, PS4/PS5, Switch 1/2 all with separate versions and costs? That’s nonsense, cut it out!

Finally had some time to reflect on a Top 50 list of games I played that came out in 2025. I didn’t include remakes/remasters/collections, and didn’t go past 50 which means games like despelote didn’t make the cut. I feel fairly good about the order, but the deeper you get the harder it is!

“This game is like A Link to the Past, but not as good” is a common and lame critique. So, it’s not as good as one of the best games ever made? Wow! Weird!

I’m trying to wrap up a few more ‘25 releases before the end of the year, but I’m thinking I could probably put together a top 30-50 (?) fairly easily. It’s been a great year for playing games, if you think otherwise…maybe find a new hobby 😉

It’s been a great year for updated versions of some JRPG classics:
Suikoden I+II, Lunar Collection, Saga Frontier 2, Raidou, Trails FC, FF Tactics, Dragon Quest I+II…good night!

Suikoden II is one of the GOAT in the genre. Better than any Tales game by a wide margin! 😉

Not comparable outside of the weirdness and vibes. It’s absolutely on that level though in the best way.

Promise Mascot Agency is another 2025 game that’s getting slept on that people should check out. It’s one of those “PS2” games that plays/feels like you remember and not reality. Definitely worth checking out for the vibes and weirdness alone + the gameplay loop rocks.

I’ve never loved Half-Life as much as others and putting some thought into it I realized the gunplay just feels bad to me, far behind other shooters even of the time.
