blitz chess is great as a no-stakes side game to my usual rapid games... it scratches that "i wanna play chess but don't wanna think too hard rn" itch. and though I'm sure I'd get bad habits if i only played it, i do get exposure to lots of new board positions i wouldn't otherwise
