A Chicago Trauma Doctor Has a Plan to Shift the Cost of Gun Violence Dr. Anthony Douglas is determined to compel the gun industry to fund victim restitution in Illinois — with national implications.

In Illinois, a bill called the RIFL Act would shift some of the financial burden of gun violence from victims and taxpayers back onto the industry that profits from the product. Think of it as workers’ comp, but for gun injuries and deaths.

We couldn’t possibly be in a worse information environment for what’s happening. Which is probably, in part, why it’s happening.

Today, little kids at Annunciation Catholic School were forced into a club that no child should ever join. It’s a fucked up club, and it’s growing because our so-called leaders refuse to act.

I deeply believe (in fact I know!) that @democrats.org understand and care about the importance of digital platforms. Which is why I’m quite surprised by this job posting - expectations vs salary/experience are completely at odds

And in DC! Also this role needs a big ol’ seat at the table to make legitimate change. 65k and 1 year of experience isn’t going to get that.

Good news: @democrats.org are hiring for an Influencer Manager role.

Bad news: pays only $65K (in DC!) and requires just one year of experience.

Yes, they do. I wouldn’t take guidance from traditional media about what is resonating with voters - we’ve seen over and over how wrong they are. This is all over social media (not just bluesky) even on non political accounts.

Express your outrage, ask them for a detailed plan on how they are going to work across the aisle to get this man returned safely. House Republicans have a slim majority, and many represent districts where this is overwhelmingly unpopular. There is chance for bipartisanship here.

Calling outside your district can do more harm than good actually! Keep calling your Republican reps - their staff has to tally them and report it. And get your friends and neighbors to do the same!

TRUTH. Dems build the economy, republicans crash it, we fix it… our biggest strategic blunder continues to be our shitty messaging about economic wins.
