- Using BBS anims that we had adapted around 2022, or anims from other KH3 characters
As it took ~3 years to finish him, the workload of one NPC was spread over time. Expanding the 7 that don't fully work out of combat (Riku, Ven, Lea, Kairi, Roxas, Xion, Sora) would multiply that workload a lot π
We're:
- Rebuilding an existing NPC Terra (left unfinished by Square-Enix) that had almost everything for combat
- Not expanding him beyond combat, as he only shows up during fights with our mod
- Re-using animations he has from the "Battle of Guardians" fight in Re Mind and from cutscenes

Funny thing, I think Jiminy even alludes to this in the Flood's Gummiphone entry π It seems he didn't even want to write a proper description for them, just passively-aggressively redirecting to the Shadow's.

AFAIK, when it released, "Birth by Sleep" was also criticized because its Unversed enemies were clones of some Heartless (gameplay-wise). It's probably why "Dream Drop Distance" didn't have matching Dream-Eater enemies, and why the Bruisers, Scrappers, etc. weren't in KH3 (to avoid clones).

That would probably be tough, the "Birth by Sleep" 3D models would still need to be upgraded to match KH3, and adapted to match animations from existing Heartless.
The KH13 Heartless animations don't match either the BBS Unversed animations either, so that's a lot more porting to do :-/

Many in-games maps would also need to be rebuild to add "navigational meshes" they need, aka hidden orienteering meshes that NPC (allies and enemies) use to know where they can or cannot go. This would probably bloat the mod by several gigas, more than what NexusMods allows us to host :-/ [2/2]

I think that would also be a lot of work π’They don't have NPC logic set up for navigating maps, and we'd need to create or adapt new animations for that as well (jumping, climbing ledges like Sora, sliding rails or slopes, drawing in and out their weapon, etc.)

I'm afraid that's a very tall order π
That would require reworking 3D models, textures (to match KH3's), animations (including new ones in KH3 like when hitting walls), making new NPC logic, VFX, SFX, etc.
And at the end of the day, they might be defeated too easily to make it worth the work :-/

About Cure, did you use the MP Safety ability? We know it cannot trigger MP Charge with Cure if that spell no longer costs all of your MPs. This seems to be a hard-coded behaviour, so we'll probably just remove the ability in the next 2.0 update :-/

[2/3] β¦ at least because the modding scene, tools, and our technical understanding of the game's structure and design have been better over time!
We've also all become better designers, programmers, artists, etc. over time, and thus went back to bugfix, improve or rebalance things we did early onβ¦

The v1.0 took roughly a year, from the moment KH3 released on PC (March 2021) to its release at March Caprice 2.0 (March 2022)

AFAIK they modified the input system for Steam, and the Epic Games version did not have this bug :-/

AOE magic on Dark Form can be important against bosses with revenge mechanics.
AOE spells will have increasing revenge values, angering bosses faster with Firaga et. al.: bsky.app/profile/kh3l...
But you can also use that to deliberately trigger a boss's revenge, and counter appropriately ;-)
More formchange refinements, this time with Light and Dark Forms!
With subtle changes to magic, combos, VFX, abilities and weapon stats, they will no longer feel like clones.
Pick your form depending on the case: using all spells for healing, or min-maxing reprisal DPS with perfect guarding.
Note that our changes for Blitz Forms will only apply to the corresponding formchanges: Agile Claws, Twin Yo-Yos, Nano Arms, and Frying Pan.
Clones of these forms (e.g. Counter Shield) will not benefit from these changes, since they are attached to other forms (e.g. Guardian Form).

Starlight deserved more than a clone of Second Form! We'll give it in our #gamemod its own Formchange, with new finishers, AOE magic, a new Shotlock, and Light Form's clothing and new abilities.
Some inspiration came from special attacks from Union Ο, and from the KH3 QTE against the Demon Tide!

New year, new me? We've been working for some time (1+ year) on rebalancing all formchanges in KH3.
Sometimes, this meant reassigning new garbs and their abilities to some of Sora's formchanges⦠or reinventing cloned forms (like Second Form S for Starlight, now "Ancient Star").
