(AI nana) β€œoh darling, I would love to tell you your favorite bedtime story, but before I do β€” did you know that with DraftKings, new customers bet $5 to get $200 worth of bonus bets instantly?”

Yes but that crowd noise booing him is far louder than I expected. Heartening.

Aside from everything else JCO makes a great point that isn't said enough. None of these fuckers seem capable of saying anything nice

His breakthrough role. At the time of release he got glowing reviews in the then-massive lad mags sphere.

One of the silliest premises for a horror film in recent years. Totally silly and painfully slow. Despite that, I still didn’t think it was terrible.

I bought this to be a Macca adjacent completist and it's wonderful. A whole lost world of glamorous ITC thriller cues.

Donna Jean Godchaux supplied steel and soul to the Grateful Dead in their prime Godchaux sang on classics by Elvis and Otis Redding and had a long solo career, but it’s as a member of the Dead’s classic, acid-drenched 70s lineup – and as the band’s only female member – that she will be remembered

It’s given an extra boost of 1970 grimness by the fact no attempt has been made to correct the colour. It may be the brownest thing ever broadcast.

It's pretty funny that the description on Netflix for Hillbilly Elegy is "the tale of some college guy, no need to dwell on who. Based on a true story... Isn't every story true in its way?"

A few nights later, Bronson and I had dinner together in the barnlike dining room of the motel in La Junta. I thought it might be a good idea if we got to know each other a little better. Across the room from us was a long table with about fourteen men in business suits; the men also were having dinner. They kept glancing over at us, trying to get a glimpse of a real, live movie star feeding in their
presence.
Eventually the man at the head of the long table got up and strolled over to us. He was a tall, youngish chap with a bland, pasty

face and very nervous. Obviously this was one star-struck local boy. He never even glanced at me; his eyes were riveted on Charlie as he hesitantly apologized for interrupting his dinner (not mine). Then he explained that the group he was with were the presidents and officers of several of the local golf clubs in the area. They got to- gether like this every month or so. Anyhow, he said, they couldn't help noticing that Mr. Bronson was here making a movie and that they would like him to know that if he wanted to play golf he would be more than welcome at any of their clubs. They'd be honored, in fact.
I thought it was a very nice gesture and looked to Charlie for his reply. So did the shy, smiling young man. And Charlie did reply. "You know," he said, "where I live in Los Angeles the back lawn of my house is part of a golf course.'
"Really? That's wonderful."
"And you know what I do with that golf course?" "Why, no, I don't, Mr. Bronson."
"I let my dogs shit on it," he informed the young man and returned to eating his steak.
As I said, there's only one way to describe Charles Bronson: Mr. Charm.

The blu-ray is 16:9 and I suspect it was shot for 1:85 to allow theatrical outside the US.

Totally annoying as the sarky student punters probably thought the film makers were amateurs when in reality it was a cinema projectionist error.

Aha, i see. Interested to see what they do with the aspect ratio for this. A few years back I saw a 35mm print of the theatrical version and it was incorrectly left at 4:3 - it had loads of pointless headroom and got laughs when the boom mike was clearly visible.

Saipan has been rated 15 in the UK for very strong language in the least surprising film classification decision of the year. It should get a PG here for its historical importance πŸ˜†
