As a UK taxpayer I resent my tax money being squandered on bringing unpatriotic tax dodging emigrants like Oakeshott et al back from Dubai.

It’s true that Starmer is no Churchill. But Trump is no Roosevelt; he’ll, he’s not even a Gerald Ford.

Trump berates Starmer for not being more like Churchill which is a bit rich considering that Trump is not like Roosevelt. Indeed he’s more like Don Corleone than he is any past president. Imagine a mafia boss with access to nukes!

This 'Labour' government keeps saying it wants to support small businesses and support our High Streets. Yet they inflicted a swingeing increase in Employer NIC and now they're following this up with a massive hike in business rates – hugely damaging to small businesses.

According to the BBC "Starmer accepts that the voters are impatient". Of course they are – they've been waiting 19 months and barely a sign of the changes so desperately needed. No sign of the stupid tit doing anything about it.

Consumer protection, employment protection, environment protection – regulation keeps us safe. You can be sure that any political party promising to cut regulations does not have your best interests at heart.

That should of course be RE-nationalisation of the water industry! Bloody auto-correct.

Dirty Business review – if this doesn’t incite righteous anger over our filthy water then nothing will Based on the true story of amateur sleuths appalled at the dumping of sewage in our rivers, this drama starring David Thewlis is a blast of controlled fury – and could become the next Mr Bates vs the ...

www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio... Everyone should see this and then demand the denationalisation of the water industry without compensation, the prosecution of present and past water co executives, and the upper echelons of the Environment Agency. Fuck the shareholders.

The English water companies have been taking the piss for 30 years. It’s time to kick back by re-nationalising WITHOUT COMPENSATION: fixing the mess they’ve created will cost a lot without having to pay off parasitic shareholders.

We would have to wait and see. I admit it’s a big job trying to rescue the Labour Party.

Apparently the Lobby Correspondents regard Keir Starmer as a 'decent man' who is, alas, bad at politics. Since being Prime Minister is the most intensely political job in the country perhaps he will have the decency to fuck off and leave the job to someone who is good at politics.

The Guardian view on Trump’s Board of Peace: serving private interests more than public good | Editorial Editorial: As aid trickles into Gaza, Washington channels $10bn into a body chaired by the president. Peace in the region rests on law and sovereignty, not ego and brinkmanship

They may lack legitimacy, but they will have the power, and the ability to use force to wield that power. Look at Iran. Only a revolution or military coup could change that.

I have supported electoral reform since the '80s. I'm still waiting!

I seem to remember that several of the elections for PCCs had turnout figures around 15%. It hasn't diminished their power, though I gather Labour is planning to abolish them.

My preference would be for PR, combined with state funding for political parties and a ban on any private funding.

Donor suspended from Tories pays Β£50,000 for dinner with Kemi Badenoch Exclusive: Rami Ranger, who was suspended temporarily in 2023, makes successful bid at party fundraising event

www.theguardian.com/politics/202... CORRUPTION. Nothing but corruption. Unfortunately Starmer's Labour are no better, if slightly less blatant. Outlaw political donations, abolish the honours system and the House of Lords.

The trouble with voter boycotts is that bad guys always win – even if only 10% of voters support them, if they win a majority they rule. Arguments about legitimacy don’t work.

I fear the next general election could be a rerun of the Brexit referendum where a largely elderly, uneducated, bunch of angry closet racists do irreparable damage to the country thanks to Farage and his lies.

What is Starmer's government doing? It was elected to fix the cost of living crisis, the housing crisis, the health crisis, and now the defence crisis – and all it can do is fart about with local government reorganisation and digital IDs which nobody wants. Mad.

Ministers may slow youth minimum wage rise amid UK unemployment fears Government considering delay to equalising national minimum wage after jump in youth unemployment

www.theguardian.com/society/2026.... It's not the minimum wage that's causing youth (and adult) unemployment, it's the swingeing increase to employers' NIC introduced by our idiot Chancellor.

EPA reverses long-standing climate change finding, stripping its own ability to regulate emissions The agency announced it is repealing its 2009 conclusion that greenhouse gases warm the Earth and endanger human health and well-being.

There are so many fucked up things with the current administration that it's hard to focus on one but this recent move is basically a death sentence for the planet. I've been involved with more boots on the ground actions over the years than I can count and this really bums me out.
