The conclusion was don’t do a war with Iran as it would cause a worldwide recession that could only be resolved with ground troops at the cost of thousands of US lives.

I wish I could find it, but I read a book twenty years ago that had different war scenarios written by ex-Reagan and Bush I advisors.

For the Iran scenario, the result was the shutdown of the Straight of Hormuz and severe worldwide economic impact with riots and instability in several countries.
