I did not know what I was getting into here. It’s gritty magic and rather dark (and my book group was icked out) BUT I enjoyed it and the ladies’ relationship. I am looking forward to the next one - it’s a series!

This YA horror novel thrashed me. It’s a fabulous, sensitive work with two trans characters, one with autism. I loved that the author wrote the reader a caution letter to start. It’s grim in there, but also GREAT.

I definitely ran out and hunted candidates for the Wonder as soon as humanly possible. It’s definitely about the apple :D

I work as a bookseller and we got our copies in a few days early. Having to wait to sell it was torture. lol

Small town stories: driving downtown, behind a school bus and an SUV. Some wee kids in the back of the bus were waving their arms excitedly to the SUV in front of me, begging for honks.

When the light turned the SUV tooted a bunch of short beeps and the school bus became 40 happy tiny jazz hands ☀️

An ARC called The Dilemmas of Working Women, a bestseller in Japan, new to English readers this August. It’s deeply semi-comfortably (?) relatable; I totally get why it won the Naoki Prize. Plus they are short stories, which I think is super nice to slot in between other works. :)
