We will revisit these comments when the World Cup begins, I suspect. This is a spectacularly bad idea even by the standards of the Trump Administration. It's how you make the images that eventually get Ossoff reelected and either he or Warnock elected president.
This is ICE as a Jack Doherty video.
Went to Social Circle, Ga. to report on the strange bedfellow coalition forming against what cd. be one of largest ICE det'n centers in US:

This person has lied to me, directly, more than once. One can only assume her replacement will do the same.

Jesse Jackson ran for president, lost, and didn't dissappear. That is more than I can say for most people who do.
That said, I wasn't a big Jackson fan. I'm not religious. I'm skeptical of the nonprofit activist complex. But I know what's coming.
I met him twice. The first time was during the Occupy movement here in Atlanta. The second was at the trial of the murderers of Ahmaud Arbery.
The thing that enraged white racist asshats is that he always brought a small army with him, physically and financially. Yeah, he raised money. Money helps.
The waving of the bloody shirt in the killings of Iryna Zarutska or Laken Riley is embraced, of course, and the deep pervasive fraud and grift associated with Trump and the like can be ignored.
Jackson was their vision of Black outrage as illegitimate. We are going to read the ugliest things today.
The hollow right wing derision of Jesse Jackson has illuminated my sense of politics and race. Whenever a white person does something terrible to a Black person, someone would say "well, here comes Jesse Jackson" - usually followed by Al Sharpton - implying untoward media attention and race grift.

15.02.2026 12:36 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Serious question. If you were going out to dance, listen to music and look for love in Atlanta ... where is that? I've been married too long to know the answer to this question today.

Sushi, at Five Points. Place below the Coca Cola sign. Seriously, this is going to blow up as a space. Surprised it hasn't happened yet.
12.02.2026 18:44 β π 29 π 3 π¬ 3 π 1Do we hear these arguments? No. We get people who can barely speak English blather about whatever political noise they think they can make, ineffectively flailing at the point. Because it doesn't matter. Everyone walked into the room with their mind made up.
It's kabuki theater. I am stupider now.
Somehow, without tariffs, fentanyl deaths started falling in 2023. Largely that's because the US and Mexico started getting serious about curtailing production and smuggling.
11.02.2026 20:35 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0They're arguing fentanyl and the Canadian border. Virtually all the fent coming to the US comes from Mexico, from precursors made in China. Not Venezuela. Not Canada. Fent is a war crime, and we should be doing what we can to stop it.
But Canada isn't the fucking problem.
Partisanship means there's no point to public argument. It shows. Floor debate in Congress should be the highest form of argument in our democracy. I've been listening to it as I work, and it is the most useless empty bullshit around. We get better arguments in the stupid 20-vs-1 Hasan Piker things.
11.02.2026 20:24 β π 19 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0I'm all in favor of killing Boko Haram terrorists. Understand though that our military activity in northern Nigeria is at least as much about blunting the influence of Russia as it is about terrorism.
The Russians have flipped governments across the Sahel, and nearly have Nigeria surrounded.
Here's the thing: the First Offender Act was made for circumstances like this. I get it. I should not be arguing against mercy.
My problem is that I don't see this kind of justice being meted out when the defendant is Black and poor.
Hannah Hackemeyer, the teen drunk driver who killed Sophia Lekiachvili in 2024 has been sentenced to 2 years of house arrest and 10 years of probation.
You get three guesses about her socio-economic status. You'll get it in one.
Had this warrant been brought through a transparent process in which the county could have offered evidence, it would never have been granted.
10.02.2026 20:50 β π 31 π 8 π¬ 1 π 0The assertions about tabulator tapes and unfolded absentee ballots and what not were addressed in several cases, including the one heard by Judge Brian Amero, which concluded that there wasn't enough evidence to prove a meaningful error, much less a crime.
10.02.2026 20:46 β π 30 π 6 π¬ 1 π 0I've just gone through the affidavit that the FBI used to obtain the ballots and documents from 2020 in Fulton County. It relies entirely on assertions found wanting in several lawsuits by election denialists who have been getting laughed out of court for five years. Kevin Moncla. Joe Rossi. Others.
