Tha same room has a broken AC, and one of the two ceiling windows is broken so cannot be opened. Luckily there are 4 others that can be opened a little (don't want the kids jumping out of the frying pan).

The next big step in AI will be pro-active as opposed to reactive agents. AI's that actively pursue goals, and chase students for work while offering challenging timely questions.

AI has dramatically improved my life. It does so many little jobs that used to drain my mental energy.

Looking to do an ethical hacking course, any recommendations?

Avoiding Cyber-security as reading curriculums it's mainly understanding the threats and how to avoid them. I need something more practical.

I have always struggled in education, and finding jobs. Conversely I have always done well in jobs. From September all I need is a job I can build up a head of steam, preferably something involving python and learning.

In teacher training schools teach you the theories they want you to use. The universities teach you many more, some of which are significantly better, but sometimes harder to implement.

How we dumbed down teaching โ€“ and what we must do to fix it Over the past decade, teaching has been pushed towards a prescriptive model that reduces intellectual curiosity and overlooks essential classroom engagement, argues Sam Gibbs

The loss of teacher autonomy over the past decade threatens not only our pupils' education but also the future of the profession, warns @samgibbs.bsky.social

England faces drought this summer as reservoir water levels dwindle Exclusive: Government and water firms preparing for possible shortages as dry weather is expected to continue

England faces drought as reservoir water levels dwindle. Rationing beckons.

Population increased but no new reservoirs for 35 yrs; no desalination plants.

Companies fleeced customers, borrowed to pay high dividends, low investment.

People pay for privatisation follies. End the scam. Nationalise.

Education restricts time for intrinsic learners to explore autonomously, they are much too focused on ensuring extrinsically motivated individuals have a clear learning path.
Self-regulated, life-long learners are not given time to explore, and it's this exploration that produces new insights.

How the EU youth mobility scheme could save Brexit The Chancellor Rachel Reeves and her successors should encourage youth mobility not to reverse Brexit, but to save it.

So pro Brexit Spectator show how to use reverse psychology with brexiteers.

They sell EU youth mobility as key to placating the young with a bone to save Brexit.

As polling continues to show under 30s are far and away the least enthusiastic about Brexit.

It would be nice if we could teach smaller groups. Our students need a lot of personal attention to really fulfil their potential.

Okay, I hadn't heard of that. And it's something I might research. It might be beyond a pre-gcse year 9 though. Although the student is very bright.

Ideas for teaching computing to a student banned from computers?

Year 9, the rest of the class will spend the whole term on App Lab building a movie booking site.

First lesson is tomorrow and I have nothing.

Absolutely, when we moved back to the UK we hyper analysed schools reports. We applied for an outstanding and got accepted, but were placed in a different school in the Trust. On paper it didn't look great, but our daughter thrived there, and refused to move when given the option.

This is "supposed" to be a good school, formally outstanding. You are right though, I know what to look for now. I don't put much weight behind Ofsted ratings anymore though.

Our pupils reorganised keyboard letters to spell swear words. The school got new keyboards so now the letters cannot be reattached or fixed.

The school is over subscribed, so computer rooms are in communal spaces / corridors. It's a nightmare trying to keep everything in working order.

Sometimes I feel Scratch is used so non specialist teachers can comfortably teach computing. I agree important concepts often get lost. It's very disheartening.

We are struggling to find people with coding knowledge who want to teach. The only reason I looked at teaching is because I was working at home alone and it was very isolating. There is definitely an opportunity for a Computer teaching system aimed at schools.

Thank you. I definitely want power through. What I do next year is up in the air though.

Considering building a coding tool to help schools teach programming even with non-specialist teachers, just need to find a way to pay the bills at the same time.
