My understanding is that Melbourne’s new tunnel is an example of this. You could’ve like doubled capacity by adding a few tiny tunnels and using the loop to send trains through the city

Last night a speeding car crashed into the bus stop at 105th and Aurora. This is the second high speed crash in this section in the last 2 weeks.

All the brown areas here ban ground floor retail. And they have wonderful apartments and the quietest streets! Very very pleasant neighborhoods

I would imagine the big box stores sell more per sqft than small businesses.

If my hometown didn’t have a Walmart, we’d need a lot more stores to fill the gap.

What’s an example of a neighborhood you’d like Bothell to be more like?

As far as I’ve seen, dense, walkable, transit oriented places have ground floor residential. And lots facing loud, trafficked roads have commercial

Wow I always thought Asia and Europe had more retail space than the US. Must just be the vacation effect!

I always thought that they just really like long leases and are willing to let it sit vacant to find someone to sign a long lease at higher rate than signing it now for a lower rate or shorter term

I’m curious how the boost in ridership from the 2 line breaks down between east side trips vs people riding more on the west side

Crazier stat: the closest Trader Joe’s to Capitol Hill Station is the one in UDistrict, not the one in Capitol Hill!

CHS -> CH TJ’s: 21 min walk
CHS -> UDistrict TJ’s: 5 min wait (at worst) + 7 min train + 8 min walk (20 mins)

I agree that an all day every day service may not attract many riders but starting with summer weekends could be successful like the trailhead direct

Even factoring in waiting time, it’s faster now to get from Capitol Hill station to U District Station than walk from Capitol Hill Station to Madison St

Oh ok. The only thing that driveway goes to is that apartment building. So I think the current design is better at discouraging cars from going on the trail

I’m not sure I follow. The driveway on the top right is a dead end.

The trail comes from the bottom right, crosses and goes to the top left (or bottom left, there are two)

The pavement on the right is a driveway, on the left is the new trail

I do wonder if people would want to spend time in a park sandwiched by rainier and I-90. Could be nice to have some light retail space too

This bus spends about as much time waiting at red lights as it does at bus stops!
