Harley, Loki's beagle sister, had been taking a drink from the bowl but got distracted by a squirrel.
Loki passing did have me thinking about how she always needed water on our walks in summer, so I figured we'd remember her by making sure other dogs had water available. Granted, the walkers need to provide the water for their dogs, but it's better than nothing. Harley approved of it.

My TARDIS LFL with the door snapped off, still stocked with unharmed books. Below is my new pup, Gonzo, standing guard. Forgot to take a pic of the door lying in the yard because I had to take care of Gonzo.
Oddly symbolic, with the books out of the LFL, someone returned my copy of Fahrenheit 451. I promise I'm not getting rid of all the books, reader!
A new door using planks of wood for strength, with a picture frame screwed to the front for the window. I screwed a doorhandle in.
My Little Free Library, restocked, door installed. It has two latches inside to help support its new heavy door.
Well, not surprising me, the doorframe on the LFL turned out to be something other than wood. So when someone didn't shut the door, it snapped off in a gust of wind! So took the books out briefly, figured out a new door, and within a couple days, got it hung and restocked!

So someone put a copy of Harry Potter in my Little Free Library, which they must be unaware that the TARDIS means I fall on the Tennant side of Tennant vs JKR. No TERFs allowed in my LFL, so I hiked up to the LFL near the church and traded it for a 'Stories of King Arthur' and we're both happy now.

The ruined piece of plywood common sense should have told me not to use.
The book box with the very top of the tardis, including the lantern, removed. Interestingly, the inside of the sigh is bone dry.
The Tardis Little Free Library, back in one piece, better than new!
This has been a little bit of a learning process for ol' Kyle-Bot. Plywood wasn't the best choice for the top, torential ran made it bulge and such. I got it replaced with solid lumber. Also put a sheet of Aluminum over it, so we're good again. Still weatherproof inside, Charter #206672

a blue Little Free Library designed to look like a TARDIS from Doctor Who, mounted on a pole. It's over a group of paving stones and in front of a landscaping wall.
A little free library with the door open to show a tray inside and the weather stripping around the door.
Put a little pad of paving stones to step on far enough away from the curb so we don't hit them in the winter and biff our shovels or snow throwers. Also for the inside we have a cookie tray to keep the books up out of any water that could leak inside now, just in case.

My poor Loki, the shorter dog in the previous pic, got sick and distracted me from posting, but I got the library hung up before that. I got the books in, and in the process got a neighbor interested and the next day got thanked for putting it in.

A hole dug in my grassy yard, with my foot in shot
The sidewalk along the top right of the pic gives away the location of the hole, with the wagon full of dirt showing how deep it went.
Didn't leave the hole too long, put the post in with concrete to support it, and a couple of supports briefly to make sure it's level.
My dogs, Loki left and Harley right, inspecting the hole and the post, making sure I did it correctly.
This is a POST POST. Monday, the last relatively mild day here, I dug a hole for the Little Free Library! It's narrow but 3 feet deep to get below the frost line, thus the cart of dirt. Harley and Loki inspected the installation and gave it a thumbs up afterwards, so we're getting close to ready!

Here's the latest update on the Book Box! I got paint on the TARDIS. It's Ink Blue from Rustoleum that should help give it some weatherproofing. I'll add some weather stripping around the door.

Realized my TARDIS needed the little box over the sign section so used some spare lumber to make it. Also got the shelf cut for the inside.

The lantern for the top of my themed Little Free Library with a printed shade on it. It's lit and casting a shadow around it, and it's all painted blue.
A DC Essentials copy of Batman Hush, and a movie tie-in cover for Secret Origin, a few screws and tools for the little free Library's assembly. And the unlit lantern for it.
Some dress-up bits for my little free Library, cut lumber sitting on a work bench. IT's also sitting on a sheet of aluminum that will be a sort of rain shield for the top of it.
Have been working on my Little Free Library a lot this weekend! Got a shade printed for the lantern on top, got a couple books (Granted, Secret Origins does have the movie tie-in cover) and some bits chopped for it.

A still wrapped wooden picture frame. It's a convenient size and can be reinforced and the glass can be easily replaced! Will weather-seal it on the inside and such.
I love Kingdom Come and they had a new edition for $10! Congrats, users of my free Library, you get to read a masterpiece! Ink blue paint for the outside, simple hinges, a handle, a latch, and a backup latch if needed. All sitting inside the box.
A small solar light I have stripped some unnecessary parts off. I'm going to 3D print some bits to dress it up, and this might be a good hint, between this and the blue paint, what the Book Box will look like when dressed up.
Minor parts update! We have the door to the Little Free Library, some bits, hinges, handle, latch, and paint, another book, and a light for the top!

The bare-bones skeleton of the book box I assembled this weekend. There's nothing like overdoing it, so it's going to have a shelf! Loose affiliation of book types here.
So, the Book Box will have 1984, Brave New World, To Kill a Mocking Bird, and more on the way! While we're also teaching compassion, All Star Superman's thrown in! Then some unrelated books, Sakamoto Days, World War Z, and more, and a couple of 'huh, didn't know I had these' like Ready Player One, Patriot Games.
Documenting my process on my Little Free Library, the Sherry Dr Book Box! Found out some classic books are opposed by the Mothers for Liberty, so has made it easy to get a bunch of stories.
