Last night was exactly what I needed! Made dinner with the spouse for two dear friends. We grilled it ALLLLLLL: portobello caps, baby bok choy, zucchini & squash, a couple of NY strips and a porterhouse. We sat outside, laughed, talked, played euchre and hugged so many times.

I was looked at like I was insane. And maybe I was at the time. But it doesn't feel so insane today, does it?

Any money raised "for photo shoot expenses" could instead be used to get people who didn't have the funds themselves out. The spaces we used could become hubs -- stops on our own underground railroad.

It could be an opportunity for us to connect with other safe(r) people and places. Any travel that might become necessary could be done under the guise of "going on location" for the project.

A little later in the day, I had this -- what felt like an epiphany at the time -- yet sounded to those around me like downright lunacy. We could use this photography project to help build our queer network in case we suddenly needed to get out of the country.

Separately, I was trying to organize a collaborative project with a photographer friend of a friend of mine. One day during this trip, I met up with him in order to go over what it could look like. After talking with him for a few hours, I felt really inspired.

I was camping with a bunch of trans and/or queer friends. We were mourning the loss of the space that had brought us together. One that was safe for some, tricky for others, and downright dangerous for yet more of us.

I was on an new med for migraines that was making communication difficult. Thoughts were moving faster than my mouth. I kept tripping all over myself -- betrayed by my own tongue.

I just had a vivid memory of August 3, 2016 jump-scare me by popping up in full, graphic detail. Our orange overlord was running for president for the first time.
