Unfortunately, this is a win/win pick for Trump. Desantis is in need of a job as of the beginning of 2027, and Gaetz, a natural replacement for Florida governor, is in need of a job now. He could probably even be installed without a vote in a country with no remaining norms.

Every time I read about banning books, I think of this:

Reading a book with a gay character will not make you gay any more than reading a book about Einstein will make you a genius.
If you're afraid that books might change someone's thinking, you're not afraid of books — you're afraid of thinking.

Unfortunately, the labor that gathers the eggs is imported. Now the eggs will either rot, reducing the available supply and increasing the cost, or producers will have to pay a fair wage for egg gathering, increasing cost to market, which gets passed on to the consumer.

Who wants to tell his voters that a significant percentage of medical devices and equipment comes from Mexico? Not only are your healthcare costs going up, but without ACA coverage, you're going to have to cover it out of pocket. Thankfully, you can still stay healthy with vacc....oh, never mind.

This is something I've been thinking about a lot. Am I brave enough to stand in the gap for the most vulnerable? Am I brave enough to use my diminishing voice to speak up when it's genuinely dangerous? I hope I find out I'm braver than I feel. I intend to make people in my sphere feel the unease.

Any party telling you who you can love, what gender you are, which medicine you can take, which books you can read, which history you can learn, what prayers you should pray and what you can and cannot do with your own body, doesn’t give a fuck about freedom.
