Husband, father, grandfather, court reporter, writer of books, preparer of food, taker of pictures, travel blogger, struggling landscaper, and trying to leave my corner of the world a littler better than when I got here.
Yes, it's what they voted for.
07.02.2025 00:32 â ð 0 ð 0 ðŽ 0 ð 0Will you just show a little humanity for once, show appropriate compassion, and stop being churlish and blameful like a fourth grader?
People are looking for comfort and reassurance. Keep the divisive hatred to yourself for once.
"I wonder if the Emperor Honorius watching the Visigoths coming over the seventh hill truly realized that the Roman Empire was about to fall. This is just another page in history, isn't it? Will this be the end of *our* civilization? Turn the page."
20.01.2025 22:14 â ð 1 ð 1 ðŽ 0 ð 0I hardly ever watch football. I couldn't name more than a handful of players. But I watched last night.
Coach: If you can get passing, receiving, and running touchdowns, you can sit out for a while.
Quarterback: Hold my beer.
That was amazing. Why sports are cool, even when they're not.
Of course. I use one all the time. It is full of use.
02.12.2024 15:52 â ð 2 ð 0 ðŽ 0 ð 0Heading to the mattress this Sunday night that caps the American Thanksgiving weekend, and starting to realize the awful reality that lies ahead.
02.12.2024 06:11 â ð 0 ð 0 ðŽ 0 ð 0The stuffed bird's in the oven, giblets on slow boil, mulled cider starting to simmer, jalapenos halved and in an ice water bath. Family coming over with other food. Overeating begins in three... two...
Have a great Thanksgiving, all who celebrate.
Not that I'm a notable political poster. I am not.
But now, I can't post politically because I am defeatist. I have lost faith. I see a downward spiral (okay, helix) that my words will not mitigate. Ignorance, blind adherence, and rigid advocacy rule.
That voice is neither needed nor heard here.
Our local library doesn't even charge late fees.
I have read dozens of books that I wouldn't have otherwise.
Libraries are awesome.
Thank you for outlining my loss of faith in what I knew as America.
26.11.2024 01:00 â ð 0 ð 0 ðŽ 0 ð 0The Stand, uncut. About 280,000 words, I think.
The Grapes of Wrath was about 170,000.
Agents/publishers want writers to bring in a sweet spot of 90,000 words, plus/minus. Hm.
I deactivated. Then i found this. Life is peaceful.
26.11.2024 00:05 â ð 0 ð 0 ðŽ 0 ð 0If I enjoy reading something, I'm apt to read it again.
I write what I enjoy reading.
A couple weeks ago, I picked up one of my books. "Crap! This is good! Who wrote this, anyway?"
Yeah, I read my own stuff. And I like it. If that's arrogant, it's also factual.
My faith in the processes and simple perspective has disintegrated.
26.11.2024 00:01 â ð 0 ð 0 ðŽ 0 ð 0I dunno. I'm a social media dunce. I get a follower, I follow back, I post, and the post goes unheeded into the ether.
Wishing you better luck than I've had.
A meme a while back that I particularly liked.
You Matter.
Unless You multiply by the speed of light squared.
Then You Energy.
Look, there will be better reasons to unfollow me in the future, guaranteed.
Well, I'll see that politick and raise a protecktion.
If you receive public benefit - roads, fire protection, police protection, storm drainage, education for your young, building/development code protections - you should pay taxes.
A home screen shot on one of my laptops. In one of my rare photo triumphs, a client said, "Where did you get that photo?"
Wellllll............. I took it.
Beautiful shot.
23.11.2024 00:57 â ð 0 ð 0 ðŽ 0 ð 0My favorite is The Dead Zone. It's sorta horror but more suspense and thriller. Very well-written, very relatable main character in a situation he didn't ask for but must deal with.
If you want to write, On Writing is great. Snapped me out of a 12-year funk.
I like to read 'em, and I like to write 'em.
23.11.2024 00:48 â ð 0 ð 0 ðŽ 0 ð 0Welcome aboard, sir. Nice to see you again.
22.11.2024 16:01 â ð 0 ð 0 ðŽ 0 ð 0The question might come up: Do you miss Xitter?
Not me. In fact, it's a nicer day for me, every day, without that anti-enjoyment influence in life. I didn't realize how toxic it really was until it was gone.
Still, I hope people there are enjoying their continued experience. Just not for me.
That would be hard to say, but one under the James Patterson brand. I don't think he wrote it. Not only unenjoyable but painfully formulaic and awkward, full of contemporary cultural references and chapters that stopped and restarted in the middle of a scene.
Didn't finish it, not even close.
Well, crap. There's no way, after all ST-TNG, Voyager, Deep Space 9, and yes, Stargate SG-1, that I can identify with that.
Back to Paramount+ to check it out.
We could just actually ADOPT models that work elsewhere better than ours, but I know that's un-American to improve through emulating others. But a boy can dream. 5/5
19.11.2024 16:40 â ð 0 ð 0 ðŽ 0 ð 0Stop medical schools from artificially limiting their numbers to keep supply down and wages up. Very smart people who would make excellent doctors are turned away from medical school all the time because of quota. 4/5
19.11.2024 16:40 â ð 0 ð 0 ðŽ 0 ð 0Keep CEO and executive compensation to a healthy and rewarding - but less than avaricious - level. Make that part of the regulation process. 3/5
19.11.2024 16:39 â ð 0 ð 0 ðŽ 0 ð 0Regulate medications and medical devices so that they can't be charged domestically more than in foreign markets. It's ridiculous to sell and profit from a device for $400 in Germany and $8,000 here. Drugs, same story. 2/5
