(2) of crowbarring words to fit an acronym or a certain letter but I genuinely felt the 3 Ps did fit better. What I learned and actually what I learned very quickly is that presence is so easy to do but can be very intense on you, your time, your wellbeing and your own progress. #newtoSLTchat

#newtoSLTchat (1) So… I gave my personal leadership principles a lot of thought before starting the role. I bore it down to three key things: presence, boundaries and development. After the first couple of weeks, I rehashed them into 3 Ps, professionalism, presence and progress. I’m not a big fan

My top tip with this is not to look for a balance as that is unachievable. Instead, strive for happiness and fulfilment in both.

To get to that - organise, effective lists, prioritise self care and boundaries, reflective practice, gratitude.

Use of consistent marking codes and encouraging live marking are big ones at our school. #NewtoSLTChat

I always find November harder for this reason than January. At least we pass the shortest day in December so more light starts to arrive as January goes on. November gets darker and colder... #NewtoSLTChat

As a principal, I delayed my messages until Monday, but then people told me it was too late and they liked getting it on Sunday. Before that I stopped sending weekly messages because teachers said they didn’t read it and then I was told they didn’t feel connected and wanted it back. Ugh…

Very tricky!! Everyone has such different ways of working. But taking to your staff and making clear you care means you’re doing a great job 😁👍 #NewToSLTChat
