Extreme Rationalism is a common ideal in many (annoying) nerd communities, so having a video game say "no, the fear and pain and rage and blatant irrationality of humanity is a feature, not a bug" in a way that doesn't act like feel good Saturday Morning cartoon pandering is pretty nice, actually.

EW's story is the most FF of all the expacs with the way it presents all these themes with hope and telling us it's okay to be.

A lot has been said, but I want to address something very specifically, the moderation team at Aetherworks. I love those people deeply. They support me enormously and show up for this community every single day. They weren't aware of the feature beforehand. When everything started, they stepped in and put together a FAQ entirely out of kindness, simply trying to help manage the flood of people coming into the server. Directing anger at them for that is not okay, and it needs to stop. They were trying to help. Please treat them with the respect they deserve.

jp has been using the same calendar since the 1870s.
hingashi is based off of pre-1870s japan, true, but the existence of heavensturn means hingashi does not use the same calendar as in the tokugawa period.
so don't try and weasel ur way out
